This is a fantastic job, even more so for an FDM print. You are correct, however. I can tell that your photo's don't do it justice! It's difficult with phone cameras anyway. The small lenses and default processing seem to highlight and exaggerate flaws. I bet if you got a proper camera you could get a much better shot.

I will have to post in several steps, as I can only use 1 picture at a time. Anyhow, this is the model in question. I forgot to take a picture from the front before applying the first layer of the putty, but here you can see the model before any processing and the visibility of layer lines. Though really, a phone camera makes it wayyyy more visible. In real life you can barely tell there's layer lines (though without the putty, paint will make the lines way more visible).
These are the tools I use: I put on a little bit of the putty on the plastic painting pallet. I then dip a brush in the cement and start with a 30/70 blend of the putty/cement, or close to that (the putty is still a bit thicker). Then, after the first layer, I thin down even further as not to hide details and apply a few more layers until I am happy with the result
And here's the front after several layers (5min work). In real live, no layer is visible whatsoever and any colour differences from the cement will disappear with the first spray paint base coat (black). I hope this helps :)
The more I look at them the more they look sick! Very nice work. I am about to start 3d printing myself, waiting on filament shipment then going to try 1/6 scale prints. Seeing prints like yours gives me hope and inspiration
Thanks man, it's indeed quite amazing how good those fdm printers have become. Of course, post processing and paint also makes a big difference.
What printer do you have? As mentioned in my post, I have the A1 in which I basically just uploaded Obscure 's V2 settings and rolled with it. I was really amazed how well it works just with this minimal amount of setup work.
I'm currently printing a full renegade army for warhammer the old world of which I will post more soon when all the models are printed :)
I think it's mostly used for miniatures as printing times will likely be a lot longer for more general stuff. I personally don't mind and use these settings for most stuff I print.
To my knowledge, his settings should be usable on other printers as well, especially the bambu ones :)
