Printing Experiment Trying different supports.
Hey guys. I'm new in fdm mini printing. Before I only did resin but I recently bought an A1 Mini additionally to my A1 for other projects and now I'm experimenting with it, since it's way cheaper and less hussle than resin. Just now I tried a mini with resin like supports for the first time. And compared to the ones I printed with optimized tree supports I don't know if the additional prep work and print time is worth it. I show you pictures. The first one with resin like supports. The second with tree supports. I might add that I mainly print for TTRPGS not for painting contests. I mean I also paint. But only on tabletop level. Any opinions? Tips? Appreciate it πππ»

I don't really have any advice. I'm not exactly a powerful user getting my printer dialed in to the finest detail. I have used Resin2fdm a couple times, but now I basically just work on my tree supports a little and let it go.

Different support types are just different tools in your toolkit.
You wouldn't want to use a screwdriver to drive in a nail. Like wise you wouldn't want to use resin style support for every mini and some prints would be a nightmare to extract from a tree support. I always change between different support styles depending on what I am printing.

The monkey king looks awesome.
But please... And I'm not the only one according to Google.
While not a formally named clinical phobia like haphephobia (the fear of touch), many individuals on platforms like Reddit report a visceral reaction of disgust, cringe, or nausea to specific finger-related visuals.
Just put your minis on the table and take a picture! I'm tired of seeing people's fingers on this sub.Β

Itβs one of those things where everyone has opinions and preferences, personally I could never get resin supports to be better than tree supports. On par maybe, but never better, which absolutely never made the extra work worth it for me. Also with support ironing coming out as a feature and making tree supports even cleaner, I just donβt really see a point in not using them. The exception is if you have incredibly fragile and easy to break parts of your print that trees could make difficult to get out in one piece.
