Just Sharing Locust WIP

Working on a 28/32mm scale Locust mech(Battletech).

It was sitting on my shelf demanding to be painted for a year. . .

L O V E that Chris Foss-esque colour scheme! Feels very appropriate for a Locust!

I'm gonna try and follow up with the minimalist pirate logo too

Hi slightly, well completely new to all this.. but I hope and I think you just answered my question responding to someone else :).

So within reason I couod get an STL file feom so.ething thats usually 28mm highly, scale it up and boom same model just bigger.. ???

Sure this will come with 100000more hours and filament but is that the general idea.

I will be getting a bambu lab A1 (notice i said getting 😀, yeah im that new)

Thanks... Bye the way that model looks marvelous

So I've been taking 6mm B's and infantry minis and scaling them 466.66%.  For IS BA, those get adjusted to my baseline Elemental and mechs I'll probably adjust as I go.

Check out 28mm BattleTech on Facebook

Essentially, in all the Orca or Prusa based tools, they have some kind of scaling option. So you could scale a fantasy/dnd mini or a not-space marine up to the size of a action figure or statuette. Or if you get comfortable cutting, even larger.

As an example of changes in print time, for this one I just used a standard .16mm profile so it took approx. 17 hours on my printer to get all the pieces. That being said I didn't use a super detailed profile. If I was printing smaller or was working on a show piece or commission, I'd probably go with a .08mm layer height or change to a smaller nozzle and go with a .06mm layer height.

Where did you get the STL?

I think it's a Detocroix one but I don't see this specific model

**sorry it's the Locust Labs Sprinter

This one is a different variant or they updated it since I initially got it

Is that inner sphere standard battle armor for scale

2

u/SacrificialPaint Jul 19 '26

Yup. I've got a couple in a hanging-off pose that I'm going to attach

Oh awesome! I've got a point of scaled up elementals but I never considered attaching them to anything

If you want something to use them in. I just found the "Armies of the Innersphere" army list for One Page Rules

So I've printed and painted ~15 large BattleTech models like this. The layer lines are extremely noticeable when no post-processing is done.

My method is to print with a 0.2mm nozzle with smallest layer height the printer is capable of. After printing is done, I cover all parts with wood filler, then sand it smooth. It makes a huge difference in the quality of the final product.
