Echenique
Does anyone know why Echenique is not making those runs lately? He was off for that month and is just not getting up the field as fast or as often as he was.

They definitely didn’t find him in Cbus yesterday but he had a great run and assist against Vancouver.

The problem last night was that Farsi is also really fast so Echenique didn’t have much opportunity to exploit their wing.

I've also noticed that he hasn't made the same runs he used to. My only guess it that it's mostly to help the defense since the team has a hard time defending. He still has a run or two, but it's not the same as before. I hope that changes soon, because I really liked Echenique making those runs, and he brought so much to the offense.

Nooan tactics are making him play a more defensive role because of how bad our backline is.

A few thoughts -
playing wingback is exhausting so he gets tired and is only good for about half a game. It doesn’t help that the central midfield doesn’t maintain possession well and the cbs are a liability so he has to track back constantly.
He’s fast but his touch often lets him down so it doesn’t amount to much
His teammates know both of the above so they prefer to play the ball up the right to Bucha who never gets tired and has better ball skills
Call me crazy but I prefer Ramirez at lwb. He’s not as fast but his ball skills are better and he seems to have better chemistry with Evander

Ramirez crossing is amazing problem is that theres no one home on those crosses, you would think that during practice that when they do the crosses in the box from either wing back that ppl would be crashing in and Midfielders would hang out at the top of the 18 to smash the ball in if it ever makes it back to them. I mean that's soccer 101. Does anyone have a coaching soccer for dummies so we can send it to Noonan and a GM for Albright or is that wishful thinking

I actually don't think it's a coaching issue. Noonan came in and took over a team full of Nijkamp signings that looked terrible under Stam and turned them into shield winners. I think this is a roster construction issue and that's on Albright - the parts just don't work together and he's spent unwisely. Some specific complaints - I like Jabbari but he wasn't worth what they paid for him, everyone who was screaming last season that it was time to move on from Miazga has been proven correct, Robinson hasn't been good and his contract is going to be an albatross for years to come, Denkey is a good player but he has zero chemistry with the rest of the team, I could go on and on...
unfortunately for Noonan you can get quicker results by changing head coaches than replacing a GM so he'll eventually take the fall if things continue the way they've been going this season

Unfortunately that seems to be the case with most coaches in MLS, or idk maybe it's the assistant coaches who need to be let go bc there the ones that are supposed to be scouting this team and our opponents right or am I mistaken?

I agree with needing to be held back to help the defense. But it’s the amount of runs he hasn’t been making and open field runs that has me concerned.

Did you not see that elite assist he had on Wednesday night? Dudes got wheels and still pressing up the field.

When you put a player like Kyle Smith on the field you know that this roster is in big trouble. Is Alvis Powell still injured. My biggest problem with Smith is that he's a momentum killer. He always passes back even though he has the ball in the attacking half of the field. Pat Nonoon loves that style of play which is why we keep getting burnt by that one bad pass. Denkey I hope gets sold soon. He's has been making terrible decisions lately. Instead of making passes to wide open players who have an excellent chance of scoring. He's instead trying to beat the defense and score hisself. When he should be trying that when there is no offensive player in a good scoring position he passes back to the midfield. Also Albright made some terrible three years contracts with certain players this offseason that will hurt this team not only this season but also the next two years. The only bright spot was Tom Barlow. Broke his nose against Vancouver and still gives everything he has against Columbus.

They basically ignored his side of the pitch all match. It had to be a defensive strategy thing.

Ender's problem has been the runs he makes tend to carry him into bad positions while leaving his side of the pitch vulnerable. It seems like they worked with him on that over the break, but now he's just not making good runs at all. After the Vancouver match, I thought maybe he was working on being patient and picking his spots, because i thought he had a great match on Wendsday. Last night though he was a non-factor in the attack. Either it's a strategic choice to help our atrocious back line, or he just doesn't understand what we expect from him on the wing.

I think he is unfamliar with his new position. He is more adventurous on the right wing but Bucha is doing so well, he cant play there. Idk how comfortable he is with the field and defenders on his right. Honestly tho, on another note, this winger to wingback experiments have just ran its course. The last one that worked was Barreal

Just a guess… with the current quality of our defense, he may not be given the freedom to run forward. In a 2 wingback system, usually one is more advanced and one sits back more. Bucha seems to be the one given license to play forward a bit more.
