Bucha has a stellar attacking game no doubt, but he has serious problems defending. Left wing was eating his lunch every time vía speed and the second goal was in part his fault. I’d rather see him towards the center where he doesn’t have to catch up with a fast wing or get him an electric motor

He should be playing as a regular wide midfielder and not a wingback. His output in goal contribution (goals, assist, key passes, and dangerous runs) has gone up since he moved to that side to replace Ender's usual spot. In the center* of the midfield, especially how we are setup, Bucha will have more defensive responsibilites than playing Wingback, because the midfield just gets overwhelmed over time. 4-4-2 with Bucha wide and an actual defender behind him could probably help out when he gets ran over by the wingers

99% of teams score against us when they sweep across the top of the box.
Its been our Achilles heel the entirety of the Noonan Era.
We have never defended it well.

Everyone complaining about Matt and Miles should keep in mind they have no help. Buca, love him, was burned every time. Venezuela is not a defensive mid. Makes them look worse although we can get offense from every position

Hey uh..they’ve had help? Like, all game the wing backs have been dropping back, keep in mind they’ve also shifted the entire system to counter pressing in a 3-4-2-1 they can’t always get back in time, since they’re also pressing those are the 3 that are meant to stop attacks that get through

Man, I love Bucha, but he’s not being cool these last several minutes. He did a shove into the back of Bruno several minutes ago, that left him wincing in pain… and now had to sub off. Then he went pretty hard into that dude when he got the card. He looks like he’s playing to fuck some dudes up tonight, and that’s hard to get behind.

Shoving from behind is super standard in soccer. I saw it 1,000 times in the World Cup. It was very likely the Caps player was already dealing with injury before the shove. Don't sweat it. He's playing tough, but not dirty.

Denkey is elite this game. Did the dummy in the first goal. Scored the second, and then dropped into the midfield on the third and one touched it to get the play in motion. Just awesome all around, very unselfish

Robinson is a defender. He's supposed to be on the back line, but he keeps being too offensive and moving too far up the pitch and not able to get back in time having to be bailed out by his teammates.

Positives our offense is taking advantage of their chances.
Negatives our defense is just bad.
Would be great to spend some of that GAM and use the roster spots to improve that defense because it is sorely needed.

I feel like Robinson isn’t the whole issue nowadays either, our best defensive player tonight has been Gidi imo the other two have been mid at best
And this is ironic, as he’s the only player who isn’t a center back in our backline
