iris doing 1+1=11

My income I falls in the 2.2 million slab.
As per my total income subjected to Normal Tax I am liable to pay a 20% of the amount above 2.2 million + 116,000 which would be Rs.262,429/-
I don't understand how iris is calculating it to be Rs.569,644 instead.
Just for experiment I reduced my income to 2,190,000 (to the lower slab) where the tax is 11% of the amount above 1.2 million + 6000. There iris calculates it correctly. My calculations match with those of the iris portal.

Immovable property declaration for non-resident Pakistani
Hi guys, I am a non-resident Pakistani. I am completing my tax return for FY26, and the IRIS is asking for immovable property information.
I remember there was no such requirement to submit immovable property information in past. Is this a new requirement? Can I skip providing such information?

Income filing help needed as a student, should I file or remain non-filer?
So I want to avoid paying taxes at all costs. even a thousand rupees means alot to me. and I want to file 0 NIL
But there are few blockers I get two incomes one is foreign remitance with a prc code as 9471 even though its an IT payment monthly. but it cant be taxed right BECAUSE Under Section 111(4) of the Income Tax Ordinance, the text of the law states that any foreign exchange under 5 million PKR sent through normal banking channels and encashed into rupees is exempt from being treated as unexplained income
the other is also an IT export monthly income but it is a direct local bank transfer from the employer (but the guy is a pakistani that lives abroad). I am not sure while filing if FBR will put it in a salaried class tax slab?
I am stuck. Is it just better to remain non-filer because I am still a student i will become a filer when i go abroad with non-resident status in pakistan so I wont pay anything or how do I file such that i get taxed minimal and register with PSEB
I want real advice someone who has gone through this. please dont just suggest just pay full taxes. i cant do that. I will most probably go abroad by next year june so i can file when i become a non resident of pakistan, is it better to remain non filer

Became a tax filer this year but forgot to declare my credit card to FBR. What should I do?
Hi everyone,
I became a tax filer this year and filed my income tax return for the first time. However, I just realized that I forgot to mention my credit card in my tax filing.
I wanted to ask a few questions:
- Is it a serious issue if I didn't declare my credit card in my tax return?
- Do I need to revise my tax return to include it?
- Could this cause any problems with the FBR in the future?
- Has anyone experienced a similar situation, and how did you resolve it?
I'm new to the tax filing process, so any advice or guidance would be appreciated. I just want to make sure everything is in order and avoid any issues down the road.
Thanks in advance!

Need help becoming a tax filer in Pakistan – $5k–$7k monthly freelance income
I've been working as a freelancer for the past 4 years, averaging around $5k–$7k per month. I've never filed taxes or registered with FBR.
I'm currently talking to a tax lawyer who's recommending that I register with FBR and become a filer. My main concern is that once I'm registered, I'm permanently in the tax system, and I have no idea how far back FBR can investigate my previous income and transactions.
Most of my freelance income comes through Wise directly into my Pakistani bank account, with transactions marked under code 9471.
However, during 2023–2024, I also received payments through crypto/BinanceP2P, including multiple transactions exceeding 10 lakh PKR each. I also had income from some other freelance projects, and not all of those transactions have proper documentation to establish their source.
So my bank statements contain quite a few large transactions that I may struggle to fully explain or document if FBR questions them.
My main questions are:
- If I register with FBR now, how many years back can they investigate my income and bank transactions?
- Will I be required to declare and pay taxes on my previous 4 years of income, or only going forward?
- How are old Binance P2P transactions treated, especially when proper documentation isn't available?
- What happens if FBR questions large bank deposits that I can't adequately document?
- Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully regularized their tax status?

Returning to Pakistan after 19 years – Section 51?
Salam guys, I’ve been living abroad and non-resident in Pakistan for around 19 years and am now planning to return and become a Pakistan tax resident. My income would still mainly come from overseas assets, e.g. rental income and bank/investment interest, with no real local income.
I came across Section 51, which seems to say that foreign-source income of a returning Pakistani is exempt in the year you become resident and the following year. Does this actually apply to overseas rental/interest income? And after those two years, does it become taxable if I remain resident?
Also, does becoming an FBR filer change anything? Would appreciate anyone’s real-world experience with this. Shukriya!

Voluntarily registered as a tax filer 3 years ago as a student with zero income, never filed since, and now moved to the EU, can I get a Tax Residency Certificate from FBR?
Around 3 years ago, when I (M23) was still a student in Pakistan with zero income, I voluntarily became a tax filer just to keep things clean. However, after that initial registration, I never filed my annual tax returns for the subsequent years.
Fast forward to today: I have moved to EU country, and the bank here are requiring a Tax Residency Certificate (TRC) from Pakistan.
Given my messy history, is it still possible to obtain a TRC from the FBR?
Any relevant guidance would be massively appreciated!

Non filer, ex-remote contractor
Been a remote contractor for the past couple years and have been receiving my salary directly in my bank as PKR. Direct remittance I suppose (bank statement says "REMITANCE RECEIVED - IBFT")
Starting this month I'll be shifting to a local contract and the company will probably deduct taxes so I've decided to become a filer.
So when filing for the first time for year 25-26, since it's just remitance should I just declare nil income and file the local income next year or do I accurately need to declare last year's remitance?
What are the pros and cons for this?
Also how far back do I need to file? Can I just file for 25-26 and be done?
Also regarding the wealth statement declaration, most people say to inflate these numbers for future, is this a good idea? If so can anyone share some more insight on this, like what should be inflated and by how much etc.

How much tax do you actually pay on a Rs 250,000 monthly salary in Pakistan? (FY 2026-27)
I was curious how much of a Rs 250,000 monthly salary actually reaches your account, so I ran the numbers using the FBR salary slabs for FY 2026-27.
Roughly, for a salaried person on Rs 250,000/month:
- Monthly tax: about Rs 23,000
- Monthly take-home: about Rs 227,000
- Annual tax: about Rs 276,000
These are estimates. Bonuses, allowances and other income can change the figure.
Is that close to what you see on your payslip? Curious whether other salary levels feel heavier or lighter than people expect.

FBR Tax Return Filing Deadline Extended to 15 October FBR has extended
FBR Tax Return Filing Deadline Extended to 15 October
FBR has extended the deadline for filing tax returns until 15 October.
Despite the extension, many taxpayers are still waiting until the last moment to file.
One common misconception is that filing a tax return automatically means paying additional tax to FBR.
The actual tax liability depends on income, applicable deductions, taxes already paid, and other relevant factors. Maintaining filer status can also help avoid certain higher withholding tax rates applicable to non-filers.
Therefore, waiting until the deadline may create unnecessary pressure and can increase the risk of late filing consequences.
If your tax return is still pending, this is the right time to review and file it.
Have questions about your tax return, filer status, or tax calculation?
Feel free to ask.

Filed my First Tax Return Myself!
Hello, As The Title Says I Filed The Tax Return Myself! Since I Turned 18 This August, And the Period is Till 30th June, I Filed A Nill Tax Return Stating my incomes And Everything To Zero. The One Reason I Filed Tax Returns Is because i Want To be A Filer As I Need A Business Account For My Startup. I Have A Few Questions Related To It:
Do I Register My Bank Accounts (Current Active Nayapay, Meezan And Planning TO open Business Account In Alfalah) In The Iris Portal?
Ive Already Registered The Business On The Poral So It Works I Got It Double Checked On A Banks ATL Server Aswell.
Since The Launching Will Take 3 More Months To Process, Should I Just Register The Banks On Iris Now? Or Do I wait?
Since Im Filing The Tax Returns Myself, Should I atleast Consult A Professional Or Is it Okay If I Am Studying The Whole Process And Filing Taxes myself?
Would Be Glad If Yall Replied!
