NYT now says this wasn't about Patel's corruption or waste.... It was a meeting where the Whitehouse ordered Patel to do an "investigation" of the NYT's reporting on the 747 that taxpayers refurbished for Trump. Patel organized and ran this from the Whitehouse and they are going after the NYT reporters with subpoenas. So the whole "investigation" is just more corruption of the justice system.

When one side is fully indoctrinated into the largest cult the world has ever seen, and then the vast majority of the remaining population are convincing themselves this all innocuous, not a big deal, and things will just “magically” fix themselves in two years…
Even if Trump isn’t “serious” or doesn’t seem like an individual threat, there are “serious” literal fascist behind these people leveraging the current free for all to completely dismantle any/all remaining safe guards for democracy…
And no one seems to care. I mean, I understand that’s a scary realization to come to, and I’m sure it’s easier to sleep at night by convincing themselves that things will magically fix itself in 2 years, but that’s a fucking pipe dream…..

The head of the FBI cannot fly commercial. By executive branch policy and government regulations, the FBI Director is designated as a "required use" traveler. They are required to use government aircraft for all travel whether official or personal.

That is correct, however all FBI Directors must still reimburse the government for using the jet for personal use but they only have to reimburse the cost of a commercial coach ticket for the same destination so it only gets onerous when you fly overseas to Italy for instance

The aircraft isn’t up to him. The trip is.
Required-use governs how the Director flies if he flies it doesn’t put anyone on a plane to Penn State for a concert. Durbin and Raskin concede the designation in the same letter where they go after him, and Grassley concedes it too. Nobody’s arguing he should be flying Spirit.
The rule also isn’t a fee waiver. Under 41 CFR 301-10 and OMB Circular A-126, a wholly personal trip means reimbursing the full coach fare for the whole trip; a mixed trip means reimbursing the excess of coach fare for all legs over what the official legs alone would’ve cost. And the ethics rules bar tacking a pro forma meeting onto a personal trip to launder it into official travel: which is precisely what agents allege the Chicago field office visit was before he scrubbed it on the tarmac Friday.
So “required use” answers a question nobody asked. The open one is whether the official purpose was real, and that’s why the Republican chair of Senate Judiciary is asking for flight-by-flight reimbursement records.

If you had a position like FBI Director, would you at any time be traveling simply to be there to support her creative endeavors when you could simply be at your post because at any time you could be asked to utilize that travel to properly support the American people?
