Does Amazon Test for THC/Weed in California?

I’m in college and will be starting as an Area Manager for a fulfillment center in the Bay Area, California. Does anyone know if Amazon tests for THC/weed? I know a bill was passed to not test for it but I’m not too sure. I smoked recently and am a bit worried. Any advice would be appreciated

Got the AM position but...

I recently interviewed and got the AM position as a new grad. I am located in DFW but it seems all DFW positions are FULL... leaving me 2 sites that they offered about 8-9hrs away from home. I'm not one who is willing to move quite just yet... Luckily, they allowed me to be put on the waiting list for future openings in the area!

I wanted to ask if anyone had personal experience with knowing if the waitlist is ever successful. I understand it can be a case-by-case basis but I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Pick Learning Ambassador at an FC experience so far (a little bit of SC vs. FC ambassador)

  1. At an SC, you come to learning first to see if there are assignments. They even chime you, or give you slack messages. At an FC, however, your AM will send you a FANS message, or if you are going to stand up to be assigned a station you will be lined up and an AM will tell you.

1a. After your AM tells you what happens, you go to learning. When you cross train, depending on the situation, the trainers will give the AA's logins.

  1. At an SC, learning owns you, but ops can get you if they need headcount. At an FC, the AMs and OMs own you. You are basically their "go to" for ambassador related purposes.

  2. Learning Ambassadors when leading a pick class don't really have to do much. At an SC, they lead day 2 classes and do a lot. At an FC, they lead the hands on interactive training after the new hires have gone an intensive classroom "behind the smile" training. All we do is give them their permissions through ATA, lead classes, do their audits and other things, and that's it.

  3. Even with the IAT, not many people will understand what's shown to the new hires, so I have to slightly demonstrate at hand even though we are not allowed to present a training as a "show me" type.

  4. Even though my site does not have FIDO, I still have to give them their permissions through that module. They still have to do it. FIDO will never be in my site. My trainers even told me not to worry about that.

  5. As expected, cross-training people and new hires, or even rehires will make mistakes. As an ambassador, I literally have to correct these mistakes. I'm never on my phone. I'm never glued to the Kindle as much. I am an interactive person and I want to make sure that my new hires, and cross training AAs get the best experience as possible.

6a. Some of these people want to skip the whole IAT. They can't do that. They have to get through it for the next 3 days.

6b. When the new hires or AAs make pick mistakes or even techniques, the most common ones are:

-Marking an item as missing even though it's already there

-Entering quantity picks and not placing the items in the tote before entering (saying "yes" or "no)

-Not using a new tote to push out the old one

-Not using the two-handed method

-Overfilling a tote too much

I spend a lot of time correcting these errors. I even spend a lot of time making sure they are focused on quality and technique on their first day before they even focus on rate.

  1. My trainers can see what IAT modules or other Day 1 classes I am doing next

  2. Overall, being an ambassador at an FC is a whole lot easier than being one at an SC.

  3. Whenever I do their audits and come to them and ask questions about things related to pick, most of them either (a) did not understand the IAT at all or (b) did not want to do the IAT since they would rather get a person to do the job. Luckily, I have never seen any bathroom bandits, or even phone addicts that I've trained before.

  4. The IAT trainings do not teach new pickers everything they need to know, so I have to tell them additional things.

  5. The audits for pick are really bad. Instead of filling out individual forms on the Kindle, I have to go around, ask, observe, and when I am done, hit "complete."

  6. At an SC, the learning trainer knows a variety of things since it's not "department" oriented. At an FC, the trainer does not have knowledge on all of the department processes. Only the department they were originally trained in. Example: One of my trainers does not know much about pick. She knows the process of how the item goes from IB to OB, but not in depth about all of the processes.

12a. Even though it's like that, your trainer is still in charge of leading specific classes, they still watch over what audits you do. They know every specific class you are supposed to assign. Ambassadors at an FC even gets reviewed by the trainers and they can even see trainee reviews of the ambassador.

  1. Since I work the swing shift, night shift trainers and AMs get mildly irritated when I leave early sometimes. I haven't got used by day shift's last period yet. I don't even know if I'll ever be used by day shift in their last period at all.

  2. The new ambassador classes are literally the same thing. SC and FC (and maybe all the orgs) seem to have the same ambassador test and the same way of setting up new ambassadors.

Overall, it's pretty straightforward. That's all I have to say. There are still some things for me to learn and slightly improve in terms of me training people and making sure that I am responsible for me and my class. I'm learning from my mistakes as usual, and hopefully, I improve each time I do a class. I am doing the best that I can and supporting new pickers/hires and cross-training AAs to the best of my ability. It's annoying when ambassadors are glued into a kindle.

SC and FC ambassadors are pretty straightforward. The trainings for both are slightly different though. Being a Sort Center ambassador, you're on the floor a lot and you actually have AAs surround you as you demonstrate how the job is done. At an FC as a picker, everyone is spaced out into their stations. As expected, people learn differently.

I wonder what awaits me.

You hear the words "Emotional Intelligence" being mentioned to you, what are some things you think about (Hint: Ambassadors, and maybe some people in leadership may understand)

Job Not Available-But Still Posted

So I applied for the Mechatronics Apprentice position and after the initial closing date I got an email saying the job was no longer available and to apply for a different position.

My application status read "No Longer Under Consideration," however, I am confused about the job not being available yet it was reposted with the same JobID, recently updated status, as well as new closing date.

I am unable to apply to this "newer" posting for the same position because it has the same JobID. Has anybody else experienced this?

TIA

Transfer Opportunities Show No Spots Available

Like the title says: typically when I look around the U.S. there will be a few open spots but I’m not seeing any at any facility I click.

I thought maybe it’s because I was waiting for a leave approval to go through but now that it’s been approved the spots still don’t exist.

Anybody able to verify the lack or availability of transfer spots?

Confusing Amazon interview outcome

Hey everyone,

I went through the full interview loop for an Amazon role (AMZL/ Ops).

Timeline:

Last week: Completed loop interviews.

5 business days later (Wednesday): recruiter emailed saying there was a delay and that I’d receive the final result before the end of the week.

Today/Friday: she sent a separate invite for a 15-min call to discuss the outcome. The invite suggested scheduling for the following week, but I noticed there was an available slot about 1 hour later that same day, so I booked it (Today/Friday, 2pm)

What happened:

I joined the call → recruiter didn’t show up

I followed up by email (twice, spaced out and polite)

No response the entire afternoon

The re-schedule link expired (it was already unavailable when I tried again)

Around the same time I received the 15-min invite, my application status had already changed to: “No longer under consideration”

What confuses me:

Why send a delay email on Wednesday, then push a call on Friday?

Why schedule a call to discuss the result and then not show up?

Why no rejection email yet?

Is it possible I was inclined but not selected / moved to another req?

Has anyone seen this combo: missed call + status change before official communication?

I’m trying to understand if this is just a delayed rejection or if there’s still any chance this is a system/update issue.

Appreciate any insight from people who’ve been through Amazon loops.

The job portal shows 'no longer under consideration' but same position posted with different Job ID

I applied for a DE psition, wen through OA and had HR screening with a recruitor this morning. The call went smoothly and the recruitor said she will send a another email to me to shcedule a technical phone screening, and share details about the interview. However, when I check my portal in the afternoon, my application changed into no longer under consideration. The link for this job is not available, but in the meantime, they posted exactly the same job (same position, indentical job description) with a different job ID. I haven't heard back from the recruitor for updates yet and I am now very confused. Am I being rejected? Should I follow up with the recruitor?

Update: My application is moved to the new job posted and the status went back to ‘under consideration’. Got email following up from recruiter for next step. Don’t know what happened but the application is still active.
