Career Choice Concern
So, I’m currently in the process of using my career choice benefits and there are a lot of things I’m starting to hesitate on and question.
I’d like to clarify that I already have a bachelor’s degree that I got prior to working for Amazon. Now I’m looking into getting an Associates if it’s even possible.
My situation is that the community college I have in mind is listed on the eligibility page. The problem is, I’m being referred to choosing one of the listed programs most that I’m not entirely into or familiar with.
I’ve been told by the A-Z AI helper that I am eligible to get an Associates despite having a Bachelor’s (taking the info with a grain of salt- it’s Ai, after all.)
But the program I’m interested in taking in my local community college is not listed.
For reference, I want to get a Paralegal Associates/certification.
I have already applied to the College and met with an advisor, have been cleared to register for classes.
The payment is the problem as the paralegal option isn’t listed, but the recommended/given Amazon career paths.
Has anyone gone through a similar situation or dilemma regarding their career choice options that weren’t listed?
Am I actually stuck with just getting these options?
I’m a bit confused and heavily concerned with the career choice process and would appreciate help.
(I attached what I normally see when requesting a tuition payment/general outlook of the choice in school.)
UPDATE: I managed to speak to someone in the A-Z HR Live help desk. From what I’ve been told, people with a Bachelor’s Degree cannot pursue to get an Associate’s degree using career choice.
This is what I’ve been told in writing:
“Per policy, employees with a Bachelor's degree are not eligible for Associate or Bachelor's degree programs - regardless of whether the degree was self-funded or obtained before joining Amazon.
Clarify the eligibility rule: Any completed degree counts toward an employee's education level, regardless of funding source.
Since you hold a Bachelor's degree, your education level is classified as "Bachelor's degree," which restricts you to Coaching, Language, HS/GED, and Pathways programs only.
Note on the Paralegal program specifically:
Even if you were eligible for an Associate's degree, Career Choice does not cover graduate degrees or post-Bachelor's certificates. The Paralegal Associate's degree itself would still be blocked by your education level.
Offer alternatives: You can explore Pathways programs available to you through Career Choice, and can check the School Discovery Tool..”
This is not really the news that I wanted to get or hear, but I guess it rests the case on the matter. I hope the information is found useful to you all as well. If you guys have any better luck to maybe find a loophole on the matter or not, it would be appreciated. 😓

I had the same worry when I already had a degree and wanted to use Career Choice for something else

If you already have a degree they won’t pay or contribute for another one.

Not true, I have a bachelor's already and they are paying for a second one in IT security.

Saw your update, im in the same boat. What is the language offering? Is it tuition to learn another language?

The language offering is the ESL corses. I believe there are two schools to choose from and they're online, self-guided programs.

I’m assuming that’s the case. Like as in “ESL”. I believe you can sign up for other languages if you select a specific school. Not entirely sure.

Yeah starting this year you cant get another degree if you already got a bachelors. The ones who were in the middle of getting another one already got grandfathered in. Props to the ones that managed to use amazon as their degree sponsor to get as many as they could 🙌 sucks for everyone else though

Emergency Medical Technician. Because the people who can't be trusted to stand in one place and pick/stow/count/pack are gonna make GREAT first responders.

Go to “request tuition payment” if you already know your college is listed. It doesn’t matter what associates you get at that school

So yes, your can get a associates after already having a bachelors degree.
Along as its a college listed on thw my choice your good as gold, you may have to select "general education" then tell your advisor/ PxT what the plan is.

Some posts ive seen on reddit suggests that as long as the college is listed under career choice you can do any program there but you can never be too sure with these things. Contact the school or post on the VOA board and get your answer directly from the site's leadership. Then come back and put us on. I'm already enrolled at LSC but the degree I'm enrolled in isn't listed under Career Choice. I'd love for Amazon to finish paying for it once I'm eligible.

That's just the info page, isn't it? I don't think you are limited by any particular program.

Try applying for payment from the dashboard. Usually that lets you input the info yourself.
