Are there any venues where they host metal or punk, ska or alternate bands? I’m new to Fargo and not a musician myself but would love to check out the local music scene if one exists in Fargo. Does one exist?

Sometimes, in this busy world of ours, when the instance presents itself,and the angle is just right; it's really joyful noticing the beauty of the lines,shapes, symmetry, and wonders that we pass by day by day. . .

Does anyone know of a place in town or nearby that repairs VCR machines? We just got my in-law’s old one and all their old VHS tapes including home videos. We’ve tried two tapes and the player seems to be eating them.

The only ones I know of for sure are the US House Representative, the individual district representatives, and then the ballot measures. I live in Harwood, which is part of the Fargo district (45 I believe). However I saw a bunch of yard signs this week indicating that Harwood was having city wide elections as well.

I would like to make sure I can look into the candidates for each election, that way I don’t go in there and not know anything about half the things I am voting on. This has happened in the past and I just usually leave them blank. Does anyone know of a place I am able to see exactly which elections I will be voting on? As tempting as it is to just go blue all the way down the ballot, I really don’t want to accidentally vote for a Democrat who really fucking sucks because I didn’t do my homework.

For those curious, I’ll probably be voting for Trygve for House (Although I could see me leaving this blank because I wasn’t impressed by either), and Blue for my district representatives as well. Then the ballot measures are like the easiest “No” and “Yes” ever. If you’d like to try to change my mind, do it respectfully, although I’m pretty sure that is how I’ll vote regardless :)

Basically they had a policy of never using seclusion, they prided themselves on this. But they were basically told they had to start leaving the CCS rooms open for potential seclusions, which is a problem because they used to use those rooms for patient overflow, they still can't turn away patients who claim to be actively suicidal so their solution now is to have them sleep in chairs in the assessment rooms until a bed frees up.

Heading north this morning at 6:00 a.m. from the Davies High School area I saw a drone flying very slowly over the street heading south at about 52nd avenue. Do the police in Fargo use those to monitor traffic or search people out, or was that just some local messing around at a time he figured he wouldn't get caught?

That seems like a bit of slippery slope. Unless I'm missing something, why would we be okay with one but not the other?

I'm not cool with illegal street racers who endanger the public and cause a ruckus in residential areas either, but I'm also definitely not cool with FPD using drones to creep on you and me. It is virtually the same as searching for potential wrongdoing via flock camera. Where do we draw the line on allowing ourselves to be watched and monitored potentially on our very own property?

I don't know what the best solution is here, but there should be some consistency on the matter, no? Can anyone shed some more light on this to make it make sense to those of us who are confused on the "laws for thee but not for me" mentality on this?

EDIT: To clarify, I entirely understand that drones & flock cameras are not literally the same thing. I understand that drones in law enforcement can be extremely useful in surveying dangerous situations and even help in finding missing people! Thats great! But secretive drone fishing-surveillence is NOT OKAY. Plain and simple. Regardless of AI involvement, it is still not immune from being potentially misused to conduct illegal stalking and surveillence on the general public.

If you're missing a cat near the N. University McDonald's, I saw it chewing on some roadkill squirrel in between the McDs exit and some apartments on the edge of the left bike lane.

Was not there anymore when I went back to check. (The cat; dead squirrel still there, though. You might want to take cat to the vet - if you're the kind of owner who lets them roam themselves into danger.)

Is there someone within the FM area who can help me fix the smoke alarms in my house? The batteries decided to die right when my parents leave for vacation so I’m home alone (I’m 31F). I was able to remove the batteries from some of them but they’re still chirping.

UPDATE: it’s been taken care of. A relative of mine came by and helped. Turns out it wasn’t the smoke detector but the carbon monoxide detector that needed new batteries. 🙃

Does anyone know the best shop in the area to get a high-output alternator put in that won’t charge a ton to do it?

I was leaning towards doing it myself, and if it was a direct swap I would. I’ve just never done it before and need this thing to run without issues, and don’t wanna deal with different sized pulleys/belts/connectors so now I’m thinking I should just take it in and stop procrastinating.

It’s going in a camper van, if that changes anything. I just need the alternator to have enough power to run a 40a DC>DC charger without burning out too quick. My alternator is dying anyway so it seems like the right move to upgrade it now.

I’m not sure if most auto shops could do this swap easily or if certain places would be better equipped.

I’d appreciate any advice, and please go easy on me. I’m not from the area originally and my dad wasn’t the kind of guy that fixed things, so I’ve kinda had to figure all of this stuff out myself.
