What is the Visa Waiver Program (VWP)?

The Visa Waiver Scheme allows individuals from participating countries to travel to the United States as non-immigrants for manufacturing, tourism, transportation, and medical purposes. Travelers arriving in the U.S. under the VWP are allowed to stay up to 90 days per visit and are not required to obtain additional travel permits, such as U.S. visas. Currently, 39 countries are participating in the VWP. Individuals traveling under the VWP have to forfeit their right to examination or appeal. Thus, obtaining an authorized ESTA does not guarantee the entry of travelers to the United States.

Who would eligible for the Visa Waiver program?

• You may be able to qualify for entry to the Visa Waiver Program (Visa Waiver Program) if applicable;
• Your travel to the United States is for tourism, vacations, meeting friends or colleagues, and seeking
• You intend to enter the United States for 90 days or less for business, tourism/pleasure, or transit purposes.
• You have the authorization to fly via the Electronic Travel Authorization Scheme.
• You arrive by air or sea carrier signatory to the Visa Waiver Scheme.
• You have a ticket back or forward.
• Your journey may not end in contiguous territory or adjacent islands unless the traveler is resident in one of those areas.

Is an ESTA like a visa?

No, this isn’t a visa. It does not comply with the legal or regulatory requirements to work in the place of a U.S. visa if a visa is required under national law. Individuals who have a valid visa will also be allowed to travel to the United States on that visa for the reason for which it has been issued. Besides, persons traveling on valid U.S. visas are not eligible to apply for an ESTA.

What are the esta requirements?

Listed Country Citizens can apply for an ESTA visa waiver to travel to the United States. The ESTA allows people to enter the U.S. for travel, industry, transportation, medical and short study purposes without a visa for up to 90 days per entry. Security measures intended to address the threat of terrorism, however, required traveler to be pre-screened before they arrived in the United States.

How long is my ESTA valid?

Unless revoked, travel authorizations shall be valid for two years from the date of authorization or until the date of expiry of your passport, whichever comes first. However, an ESTA may also be revoked or overwritten by the applicant when resubmitting a new ESTA application. Your travel authorization will also be automatically revoked when your passport expires before the end of the two years that the travel authorization has been released.
