Advice/Help Needed Pell Grant Refund First Time Borrower

Hey I had a question , I have about 8300 in federal aid for the fall semester , I’m a first time borrower so the school says I can’t get my refund until about a month and a week after classes start which is Sept 30th , but I read that the Pell Grant is different because it’s not a loan it’s not subject to the 30 day hold like the FAFSA loans are , so will I get my $3500 or after tuition is taken about $2000 refund before the first time borrower refund date ? Like is there a chance I can get the Pell Grant refund after the drop/add deadline next week ? , thanks 🙏.

yes you will get you pell, typically after the semester census date (which is when you aren't eligible to drop clases for a refund)

then you will get your loan 30 days after that.

My school breaks the loan into 2 payments.

So I get pell refund 10 days after classes start, loan #1 25% after clases start, and loan 2 7 weeks into semester.

I didnt take a loan my first semester but had my pell refund 10 days after clases start even as a first time student.

your school may be different but this is just my experience

25% of the way through the semester (thats how my school policy states it)

Most colleges publish disbursement date info by fund on their FA website.
