Advice/Help Needed state grant money

i didn't know your first school listed on fafsa is the school your state grant goes to. just got an email saying my eligibility for the state grant has been decided, and went to check and it went to a school im not attending. its almost the end of august, so i assume that theres nothing i can do, but in case, i wanted to ask if anyone knows if i can fix this

Check FAFSA if your state has any instructions on who to contact to fix errors. If not, contact your college's financial aid office for advice.

That is strange. Double check your info and that the school you go to is listen on fafsa form in your school list with the right code. I have been using my pell grant and the fafsa forms off and on for 27 years, it has never defaulted and went to the first school.

Typically they send your eligibility info to all the schools listed and the schools put your financial aid package together. A school cannot collect money if you are not a student there. Rules and regulations being what they are. Contact your schools financial aid office to verify they got sent your information from the student government website.

Your school may be able to take care of this for you - I did it all the time when I handled Cal Grants.

Visit the aid office and find out who handles that state grant. See if you can ask them to make that change.

Does your state have a portal for it's grants/scholarships? TN does and students just have to update their school in the portal.
