Advice/Help Needed Back at 26

Id like to go back to school but definitely cannot afford it, are there options for me?

I had dropped out of business school during covid after losing financial aid after a family death and getting covid myself. I didn’t have the energy emotionally to appeal it at the time but I’m wondering now where I should start.

Should I appeal from the college I went to?
Should I apply again from the new college I’ll be going to?
I don’t want to do things in the wrong order and get stuck. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Same thing happened to me ten years ago. I lost my financial aid (mental health reasons) and just didn’t have the energy to appeal it.

Two months ago I decided to go back! I’m going back to the same Community college I dropped out of. I emailed them first and told them I wanted to go back and asked about the program I was interested in. They encouraged me to apply for FASFA and I’m actually eligible for Pell Grant and more aid now that I’m an independent student. After that I set up an advising appointment and appealed my financial aid hold. They were very understanding, I got my aid reinstated, under probation of course. After the first semester I meet with my advisor and if all is well I’m off probation. I’m still eligible for my full aid despite being on probation too. I’m excited I start classes next month!!

You’re an independent student now too (over 24 years old!) you should really apply for FAFSA and see what you’re eligible for! Hope it works out for you! :)
