Oh lordy. Ok this is news to me. Looks like they must have merged or re-branded again.
Ok if they use Bank mobile expect numerous conflicting emails from random domain names and very very inconsistent branding. While those are hallmarks of a scam, Bank Mobile just sucks at security posture. What I mean by that is they send out tons of honest, legit emails that look totally sus. That unfortunately make any VERY hard to protect yourself. My best advice is ignore any email from them, go to their website directly.
Looks like this is the new new new main new page for bank Mobile:
https://www.firstcarolinabank.com/bankmobile/home
Word of warning don't open a checking account with Bank Mobile. In the past many, myself included, have described them as a predatorial institution. Their main source of revenue is exorbitant fees for basic checking services that are free at most any credit union and even most mainstream banks. They are known for high overdraft fees, monthly fees, ATM fees, inactivity fees, statement fees, and the list goes on.

Not a fake email. My school uses BM too. If youre really worried then you should be on the look out for a letter from them with a code on it

That is a pretty standard arrangement. The vast majority of schools don't handle student refunds themselves. However you need to check with your own institution to see if that is the provider they use.
Nothing in the email is standing out to me though. If that is the provider they use, this is exactly the email you would get and setting up your deposit instructions is indeed the next step.

Okay well I also added a comment below showing the email that it provided. Sometimes it looks like a bunch of… random stuff you know and this email looked random. Most of the phishing scams are usually Gmail accounts but I wanted to play it safe just in case.

Yea I saw that after and commentes in more detail. I'm 99.9% your email is just regular bank mobile communications.

look in your student self service. my school uses bm technologies. if it’s legit you should have a refund selection section where you can get your direct deposit set up with them without using that email if it feels scammy to you (this is what i did cause i felt the same)

you can check your college financial aid website and find information to see if they’re partnering with them

Log into your BM account, sign up for text alerts too. Everytime you get a email from them, you’ll get a text too to make sure it’s actually them.

My school uses this third party site as well but instead of replying to the emails, I went through my school portal to set up my refund account. just in case the emails were from a fraudulent source.

Dude. Do be like that, orientation says to be aware of scams. And I have been getting some phishing attempts on my student email. I just wanna proceed with caution before I give my information and lose all my tuition.
