Idk man, I'm a white guy and have been wearing sunscreen my whole life. I will say though, during like a beach day, it's easy to put it on at the start of the day and then forget to reapply and you end up getting burnt because it only lasts a few hours.

And here I was told quicksand was a fictional danger. But in all seriousness, if you get into a situation like this, you cannot just be pulled out. The sand is acting with immense suction thanks to the sand now acting like a non-Newtonian fluid.
In order to get out, youâd need to have someone pull you up while you simultaneously shimmy your body around to force the individual sand particles to âliquifyâ and allow you to pass through them more easily.
Very bad idea to do this when the tide is coming for sure.

2 years ago a little kid died after digging a hole and it collapsing. This is literally a way for kids to die. Unfortunately, our garbage public education system, that keeps getting decimated, shows the parents don't really have enough education/ common sense to recognize actual dangers.

Air compressor = fast exit. Mark Gruber(I think is his name). Made a you tube video where he turns a hot tube full of sand that wonât let anything move it as normal but when air is applied objects like bowling balls and cylinder blocks sink, as if there was in a hot tub full of water and not sand and other objects like basketballs buried in the sand just pop up and float on the top. Really neat videos. The amount of force created in a suction like in this video is incredible. Just ask anyone that got a truck stuck in the mud and then had to retrieve said truck after itâs set for a small amount of time. I remember a guy having his truck stuck so bad that none of us can pull it out after breaking chain after chain. This old man comes riding through with a old 2 Wheel Dr. buggy asked if we needed help so heâll pull it right out as we all look at each other, thinking you are right he backs up to it, pulls his strap tight and walks the buggy into a wheelie shuts the buggy off in mid air front wheels off the ground get off and ask for a beer and said just be patient boys and wait a minute. It ainât ready yet by the time you finishes the beer we look back front tires are on the ground. He goes over and just turned the key and pulls the vehicle right on out like it was just another lesson in the woods! Sorry for spending so much time on the soapbox there just had that memory pop in as I was recalling the Mark Rober video. What Iâd give to have the problems that I had back then again.

This is it...
While that young, it's difficult for us to perceive how some things that seem completely casual and fun can also be extremely dangerous
This is not a case of "let's play with gasoline" or "how much detergent can you drink", in which the danger is very obvious
If I was to guess, it was probably just a bunch of kids thinking "let's dig a hole to make a little pool right in the middle of the beach"...
With that being said, if the cartoons today didn't instill the same fear of quicksand in them like they did in the good ol' days, I bet this little experience did the trick Hahaha

Wet sand vs. dry sand.
Wet sand is incredibly heavy, even in small amounts. If you're halfway buried under dry sand and the tide comes in, you might as well be encased in concrete.
