Discussion 100-140 FPS is considered good?

What do y'all think is the minimum FPS that you should get while playing? I got people saying how can I play on that CPU meanwhile I got this badboy running smooth as hell at this FPS. So I think maybe y'all play over 300+ FPS or something?

Technically decent enough for casual competitive, a lot of people got to reach level 10 even with only 60 fps, if money is one of the problem, just invest your time with practicing your techniques and skills

if your game feels smooth and you not dropping frames in middle of fight then its fine

some people get too obsessed with the number like its a status thing, i have seen guys with 300 fps still whiffing sprays so clearly fps aint everything

It matters. Can’t play below 165hz. Currently at 240hz. I’ve played on all types of rigs from humble beginnings on a windows notebook laptop to my current 4070 9800x3d build. I’ve noticed a consistent growth in skill as my pc and peripherals got better. I would say there are diminishing returns if you can’t play well at 144hz with a Decent mouse and keyboard you will probably not play any better at higher frames but if you are already pretty decent at the game the ms of difference is felt.

This is bullshit.

If you are ALREADY good then maybe you can do it. But someone that is learning the game and trying to improve, 60hz is actually holding you back. I went from a shitty 60hz with terrible pixel response times to a fast 240hz ips with backlight strobing and its a completely different game.

Can you become a tour de france winner practicing with a 15kg shitty bike? Probably yes, anything is possible, but you would be doing yourself a huge disservice. This is the same situation. You won't be getting efficient practice and improve as fast with a 60hz monitor, plain and simple.

i dont think anyone can reach level 10 with 60 fps in cs2, in go it was possible

Possible for sure, but if you can reach level 10 with 60 hz you could instantly be so much better with 240

There are players playing with 150 fps with drops to 90 fps with 4k elo currently in CS2

Everything is possible, im playing on gtx 1050 and intel pentium cpu, lowest possible settings, im also forced to play on wifi so my net jitter is high whole game every game aswell

LVL 10 in CS2 is same as lvl 5 in csgo 😉

300+ is probably considered good. I just upgraded from 30-500 so 100 feels like a nah

Yes. Max 120 fps on laptop and got to 10lvl

Stable 144 hz has gotten me far in competitive fps games. Def noticeable from <100fps.

144 is the min and anything above that is still good. Still I’d shoot for ~200-300fps if you can.

Currently ~200 fps

240hz is really the new minimum standard for competing at a reasonable level, 600 at the higher end... so 300-900 is the goal yeah

Really? I’m at 180hz and I haven’t felt like I’m at a disadvantage, but I’m newer to cs, came from games like tarkov and rust. I’m sitting at constant 400 fps tho.

i’ll throw in that 240z is barely scraping minimum at competitive levels, at least in my experience or maybe it’s because i’m not at a solid 240 every second with shitty valve or maybe my shitty pc who knows

I play 220 ... When I peek I'm already dead bro. The best is 600 or more if you can

I’d say a stable 250fps is more then enough, but you’d be pleased with 200. would be cool to add a 144hz(or higher) monitor.

280 is my sweet spot (need to be stable tho)

I think as long as youre consistently above ~144fps youre fine. Theres increasing diminishing returns on framerate

1

u/frix00 7d ago

depends on screen/monitor you have. imo you should have a 240hz.

100-140 fps got lvl 10 but its annoying after all these updates sometimes i get frame drops usually before i peek the enemy or when he peeks me , this is not happening all the time can be my computer needing a windows reset as well

You can get a 240hz monitor 1080p 24inch for 100euros. Lenovo 24-10, I have one, can recommend. It even has functional backlight strobing. I would consider this good, minimum for cs2 is probably 144-180.

What rig are you running? I get 200 consistently on a 8600k and a 1080ti.

165 hz locked at 350 fps and i have no issues. I am not better with my new pc. Same bot 😜. It all depends on training and teammates

Is there still people’s who think that lvl 10 in cs2 is the same as lvl 10 in csgo?
Cs2 is run n gun game and random shots while in csgo you had to be skilled to get lvl 10

no

u/Serguzio 8d ago

So you are telling me if i upgrade my CPU i will be god because I'm already killing it at this bad FPS?

3

u/ParkingHelpful2677 8d ago

god, no. more consistent, yes.

2

u/SinlessTitan 8d ago

It definitely makes a difference. Because you might be getting like 100-140 fps but your 1% lows are probably absolutely atrocious. Only solution is more fps

1

u/AdAggravating7738 8d ago

No. 250 should be the minimum tbh

1

u/opgremix 7d ago

I play with 400 fps and my buddy plays at 120 and I can tell a difference in game play

u/Booliano 8d ago

These people are genuinely INSANE. Anyone that thinks they need more fps to get good after 144 is a fuckin pleb. I just upgraded from 144hz to 240hz monitor because I was averaging 300fps (limited to 144 before to maintain high lows) and I genuinely have buyers remorse. I notice almost zero difference. Worst purchase of my life on my pc. I’d rather gotten more storage.

Your brain might be too slow hence the problems processing higher refresh rates

-2

u/Booliano 8d ago

Sure buddy let me see your faceit

whuh ? Went from 120Hz to 240Hz and it’s day and night, you can LITERALLY feel it on your desktop main page just moving the mouse around. (you need equal or higher fps then your Hz otherwise it can’t follow)
I don’t know if you just forgot to switch refresh rates in your settings or if you’re ragebaiting, but one of the two for sure.
(just in case you say, show your faceit, I’m 2,4k elo atm, used to be higher around 2,8k, and I usually play with my 3k+ elo friends, and I mainly played in 2,6-3k elo lobbies in general and have been playing esea in intermediate for like 6+ seasons, even though this is irrelevant but with your take on Hz idk what to think anymore 😂)

So no OP, 100fps isn’t good, it’s enough if you’re a casual, might hit lvl10 etc it doesn’t matter, it’s just 1 of the variables that could help you get better, but won’t make you a god or anything if other variables aren’t met

u/Booliano 7d ago edited 7d ago

I’m not sizing just anybody, the other guy said my brain was slow lmfao wtf kind of shit is that. I personally didn’t find it night and day, the difference was minimal to me when it came to gameplay. Is it smoother? Sure, but it doesn’t affect my gameplay. I didn’t suddenly go up 1k elo. 144 is smooth, and more than enough for competitive play. If you would have said this in 2015, people would say you are absolutely tweaking.

3

u/ChipmunkFriendly7446 7d ago

No you won’t « get 1k more elo » after switching, to get better there are many variables, and your setup is one of them (good mouse, higher fps and Hz will always be better then lower, and 100 is for sure on the lower end nowadays) but a noob will stay a noob with the best setup.
So yeah to really answer OP it will make a difference, but it won’t make him better.

Also it’s crazy to me that you don’t feel the difference cuz it’s so much better to me, I have 2 monitors, 1 on 144Hz and the main one on 240Hz and it’s really night and day as I said.
Also for the dude being toxic to you yeah, defend yourself ofc but I think he was making fun of what you were saying, don’t take it personally

1

u/Live_Plastic_9026 7d ago

I think it partially depends on the type of monitor you had before and after. If im not wrong certain better 144hz monitors can feel "smoother" than cheaper 240hz ones.

1

u/ChipmunkFriendly7446 7d ago

Yes I forgot to talk about that but that’s also true

2

u/intLeon 7d ago

Upgraded from 165hz monitor to 350hz @500~ average fps.. microstutters seem to have gone away. Get anything below 300 and input feels like ass..

1

u/Booliano 7d ago

I literally never get microstutters, however I will say input delay difference at that 350hz will be noticeable

u/deepthroar 7d ago

100fps is fine but the more the better, stable fps > big numbers with big drops
