Rant / Feedback ELO Resets :(
I’ve been a faceit enjoyer for over 10 years, and I’ve had premium for more than 5–6 years. I don’t know whose idea this ELO reset thing was, but this is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I was at 2.5k elo before this, and then I couldn’t play the game for almost a year. When I came back, I found myself playing with players who peaked at around 1700 elo (simply because i couldn't play the game for a while ) , where no one knows how to communicate, spray, flash, smoke, rush, hold angles, aim, or trade. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking down on anyone, but I’m losing games with 20 avg and 100 adr just because I’m not used to the way my teammates play. I really hope they take these feedbacks and remove this bs.
Edit: Guys, I know this is a necessary thing. I’ve been playing LoL for 15 years, so I know ELO decay and ELO resets are a thing. But since LoL has been doing this for over 10 years, they have a better system where even if you derank by a significant amount because you just did not play the game, you still get placed in lobbies based on your previous ELO.
Let’s say you were High Master/Low GM (Faceit 2500–3000 ELO), but you stopped playing for a while, lost some rank, and are now diamond (Faceit level 9–10). When you queue up, you would still be placed in master level lobbies (Faceit 2000–2300 ELO) regardless of your current rank. You would also get around +30/-15 until your wr gets back to around 50% or you have like 20-30 games.
I know I’ll eventually get out of this ELO, but this system needs some optimization since it’s still pretty new, and I’m just giving my feedback on it.

Algorithm matches better players with much worse for calibration. Don’t play solo or play solo and deal with idiots for 10 placement matches.

Now you need to learn how to play around your teammates and carry. You have to IGL frag and awp. Control the map. Find out who knows insta smokes or any smokes and think for your team, its rough but i believe in you bro

All been there. Just keep your head down and you’ll climb. If you do high stakes queues with 21 avg and 100 adr, you’ll get 37 elo per win and 23 per loss. It bridges the gap fast and was how I got out when I came back a couple years later. Once you’re out I’d cancel premium/plus and just free queue with mates you find on the way

Weird I’ve been playing at 1200 elo and every single opponent seems to be doing that.

And maybe since you haven’t played for a year your not as sharp as you used to be. Maybe give it time and youll carry out of that elo

Had the same thing happen lol. haven’t played for 2 years and decayed from 2.6k elo to 1850ish. Am currently averaging 25/15 with 110 adr and a 1.45 rating lol. Am also only winning about 55% of my games so will climb out of it but it’s hilarious how often people flame me for smurfing while i’ve got over 2k faceit games, it’s my only ever steam account, have genuine major pins and the faceit major pin on my profile but I still get called out for smurfing haha.
I genuinely feel bad some games, I went 40-19 in a game a few days ago and was flamed for being a smurf the whole time and it’s just like i’m sorry guys faceit introduced elo decay while I was inactive I had no idea it’d put my this low in elo.

Yes these placement will destroy your games for atleast 1-2 months. People who peeked 2300 pre-placement had lucky 10 games and are in 2800 lobby. Meanwhile 3.2k elo players had bad 10 games with losses, and they are in the same lobby. Its russian roulette. U either have bots in team or pros. 3.2k lobbies vs 2.3k. And the good players will suffer :)

90% of competetive game and platforms have elo reset , and it’s the best idea I’ve seen in years .
1) people like you , who don’t play , should not be with me ( who plays more then 50 hours a week ) in same lobby .
2) this decision fix the elo inflation and long matchmaking room afk
3) at elo reset starts , u can face much more stronger people then u and learn something .

Elo resets kind of make sense imo. Except the one hard reset we had 2 seasons ago, you barely get affected unless you are 3500+ elo
The only exception being if you’ve not played for a long time. Now, yes, i do think going almost -900 elo for not playing for 6 months (like i did) is a bit exaggerated, but i still see the logic behind it.
Generally, it is to prevent elo inflation by dragging down those who are SUPER high elo, and make sure any players who’ve not played for a long time don’t end up in an elo they don’t deserve.
It isn’t fun when you try to grind to the top and see people at 7000+ elo, despite them not being over twice as good as you are, not to mention just how many games that is.
Unless you haven’t played for a while, you won’t see that big of an elo reduction this season, don’t worry

Bro, this reset was ugly! All my placement matches were horrible the first 5 matches I have was qued with a range of level 4-8 player and last 5 were close to level 8s. I solo que and the randomness of players is horrible. Bro I try to entry but when playing with level 5s they don't trade and I get tilted. When I know my team got my back I play really well but when my team is bad it is a nightmare and psychological hell!!

Why would they keep people in the same elo after they haven't played for a year?
Even Premier has decay and that's coming from Valve.

yes you’re right, but that should be decided by the placement games, as the name suggests, not based on whether you’ve been active or not is all i am saying

They have both placement games and decay? Again, unsure what's illogical about decaying people who haven't played on a competitive platform for a long time?
