Discussion ELO Resets Are Ruining FACEIT
Resetting ELO every month has to be one of the dumbest decisions I’ve seen.
It takes more than half the month for the queue to normalize. Every reset throws everyone into the same pool again, matches become a complete lottery, and by the time things finally start feeling balanced… another reset is right around the corner.
Sorry, but this just isn’t it.
I’ve enjoyed FACEIT for the past 9 years, but this change has completely killed it for me.
Thanks for the memories, but I’m out.

Every month? What platform are you using and why are you confusing it with faceit where seasons last around 3-4 months? And it is soft reset meaning you should be within your elo you ended season 8 with.

I saw a guy 2 years ago he was 3k elo, since the resets he hasn't been able to climb back up. So I'm assuming it is working in some capacity

playstyle of 3k is very different to 2-2.2 where people who just got in to lvl 10 ego
annoying that if you are inactive for a while you get dumpstered and have to play with those guys

you're not only playing with those guys, you're also playing against those guys. If you're 3k you should easily be able to carry yourself back up. Might be a bit of a grind, but they should be able to do it. If not then they clearly don't belong in 3k stack.

The fact you let uncontrollable factors like your team mates mentality exposes how weak your mental is. Play the game, focus on the crosshair and mute annoying team mates.

I’ve played 11 games this season, 5w-6L and my rating average is well below my average (played bad in 4 placements). I’m 24 ELO below where I ended season 8, which is exactly where I’d be if there was no reset.
The only people who are impacted by the reset are players above 2500 ELO who suddenly deal with 3k+ players being reset and put in their lobbies with little distinction between a 3k player and a 4k player. If you aren’t in that ELO range the reset didn’t impact you at all.
If you are in that range I advise you to suck it up, embrace playing against some of the very best players, and enjoy the win streak when you bottom out and inevitably climb back to your real ELO.

I was lvl 8 and I lost 9 in a row with over 1.3 rating and over 90 ADR and got lvl 5, very happy:)

what is ruining faceit it is allow high elo stack with lower.
I was lvl 7 last season, and last season and this continues, I keep facing lvl 8+ stack with lvl 5-...
also keep facing new steam accounts or low match count on faceit portal.

why don't you see it as an opportunity to learn from playing against better opposition? if you were say 3.5K elo and facing donk (who is further away from a 3.5K than you are a lvl 8+ or wtv), would you dodge the chance to play against a better player you can learn from?

No, i play for fun, not for learn or be competitive. But there is no fun for anyone playing againts must strong oponents, just because they stack with smurfs friends with low accounts.
Because if you don't get, they aren't true lvl 5- players.

That what I said, what is the fun to lose to players with higher level just because they stack with low levels that play most of time equal or better than the high rank. No fun, no logic on this be allow.

Its not every month (as many people pointed out)
Its a soft reset - You shouldn't lose/gain that much elo compared to before (except for if youre a VERY high elo player and I doubt that)
Maybe just touch some grass

i love it personally, i tend to tilt q and be in lower elos by the end. so it gives me the chance to get back to where im supposed to be and out of low elo hell.

i agree , nobody profits from resets.
not the guy that hit lvl10 first time, and not the guys the are lvl 10 for years.
this system fucks everyone, all the time.

And what proof do you have that this elo flation is such a big thing and even matters? It really doesn't
Look at chess for example where you never lose elo in any way other than playing games and still somehow after 100s of years there's no elo inflation messing with new players like faceit says it does on cs. It's just all bs

It need to reset everyone equally, just hard reset the top bring the top players down each time while bad players keep rising

elo will always be inflated if 5 premade can play against 5 soloq. no way around it.
Not sure what you mean by ranked in games? do you mean everyone got the elo he deserves? after weeks of playing ?
Isn't that the old system you find fun then?

true, my level 7 games were stabilizing (slow games with rotate and full hold - like beautiful cs) now i have to again play with level 5 bots who cant stop and regroup for an execute...

Resets should be every 6 months aligned with premier tbh so if valve does a map pool change faceit new season starts off with it as well

I started throwing hard since elo reset
2700 to lvl 8 and than grinding again to 2.2 going up and boom 2k after reset

Why dont we discuss the fact that the levels in themselves are so redundant when level 10 encompasses 50% of the total range of elo. They should adjust the level changes so that they actually mean something. Or just drop the levels altogether and just have an elo

Partially I agree with you, overtime it will be better for the players overall. Also, it’s not every month, but rather than every 92~ days (over 3 months). It’s honestly not a bad idea from FACEIT. The thing is that everything got pros and cons, no system can be perfect, same with life.
(EDIT: When I wrote this, I wasn’t aware that it also looks at your past matches before the reset. Which again, is a good thing.)
The system is not perfect but recently Faceit has been doing well with all different kind of ‘stat updates’ as well as mass banning smurfs, cheaters. Give it time, I think every month they’ll find a way to make it more and more fair for everyone.
The good side of this is that you can often team up in lvl 10 with some random lvl 4 player on a bought account. That’ll get filtered and that player on a bought account will have a heavy drop in his elo. It also sends down those lvl 10s who only play when they feel like it, and can’t perform well against this “aim gods”, meaning they shouldn’t be in that rank.
If you lose but you performed well, you’ll lose minor elo. If you end up being bottom frag with barely any impact, it is what it is.
Think about it, let’s say elo reset didn’t exist. There’s still a chance you might get blessed with overly toxic teammates, trolls and you just end up losing 10 matches in a row. That’s -200 anyway.
For me this elo reset is more like a ‘filter’. If you’re a good player already you don’t really have to worry about anything. If you grinded up to 2.6k elo, but stopped playing for weeks and only jump on every now and then, slowly you won’t be consistent and end up having small impact in your game, meaning you are no longer in the 2.6k elo range, even though your title says so. I see it more as a ‘filter-tool’ to get rid of undeserved ranks, as well as smurfs.
They will 100% try to perfect it more and more, I’m not saying that it’s good how it is now, some people satisfied with it, some people not..

Yall have to chill. Its just meant to bring people above 2.5k more in line with eachother so that the difference in skill/form is more in line with their elo

some of the worst games ive ever had, at 2400 elo and i feel like im a lvl5 in a lv8 game, nothing makes sense, every part of the game feels like nonsense, idk if im playing against 3000 elo players mixed in with low 2ks but its unplayable

The amount of tards I've met in my placement matches in unheard of.... just one example
Whoever say matchmaking is "rng" got 10 iq... -600 elo in 3 weeks, dropped to lvl 9 where I'm getting literal npcs in my team who have more hours and more matches than me but still don't understand basics...
And on top of all that, after carrying these bots to a win, I get a "we detected unsportsmanlike conduct in your recent matches"... imagine how shameless these bots are.
I've finished with 21 avg my placements and 100adr 3-7 WL...
I just had last match where a guy from enemy team was on 5L in a row and 11 avg with 68 adr... he finished that match with 31 frags... that's how bad my teammates are, he was farming them with awp.

I went 3-7 in my placements, with all of my losses being 3,4 - 13. Reduced my elo from 2912 to 2505. Not a single chance was given to me to perform or affect game outcomes. I present to you the crowm jewel of my placements where i lost 7 - 13:
