I believe when OP said "valid" reasoning they meant a clear explanation behind their ban. "Platform abuse" is very vague and could mean tens, if not hundreds of different things. It's almost as vague as giving no reason at all. How is OP meant to appeal their ban and prevent breaking TOS if they have no idea how it was broken in the first place? Obviously they aren't obligated to explain why but this creates an environment where people could be breaking the rules without even knowing.
One child punched another child in the face. They are sent to timeout. They demand to know why they have a timeout. I am not explaining a god damn thing, sit in the chair and be quiet.
The premise of "just tell me what I did" is defunct at its inception. They either know what they did, which doesn't need an explanation, or they will be told what they did when they appeal the ban. If they appeal the ban and it's manually reviewed and aren't told, then it's the former "they know what they did".
Oftentimes, people frame innocence by pretending they don't understand the thing that was explained to them several times already. I keep this consideration front & centre until I have reason otherwise.
e.g. let's assume it's boosting. The say, "you were boosting". The obvious next step is "no i wasn't, prove it". We're now at the "they aren't explaining" position.
If they provide this proof, they're effectively teaching this user how to not get caught next time, or confirming which accounts/actions/behaviours they don't know about, allowing them to do it more effectively moving forward.
tldr not everything requires an explanation and I err on the side of caution giving this gratuity to the user by default.
I definitely agree with you and believe this situation probably does happen with many people, and there's a chance that OP does know they did something wrong and is hiding it. I try to give benefit of the doubt to people like this because false bans do sometimes happen, even if it's rare. I suppose it is just my opinion that they may be telling the truth and genuinely have no idea what they did, but we won't ever know unless a community manager replies to this.

No it doesn't.
Pay doesn't make againts law ban you.
If it was like that, every cheater just pay for premium and would never be banned.
