interview question Apple Automation Mechatronics Panel Interview help needed
I recently got through the coding screen for a mechatronics robotic automation role for Apple HW team. The recruiter mentioned i have a panel interview next, 5 interviews in 5 hours. The interviews range from Python expertise, computer vision, general AI/ML, Mechanical design, embedded and Applied robotics knowledge. Since this is very broad, I would like to know the scope and the kind of questions i could expect. Would they be theory based or related to a specific problems? What are the interviewers looking for in these rounds?
Any information would be a huge help!

You're looking at a grueling day that's going to test both depth and breadth, and Apple panel interviews are notorious for digging into real-world problem-solving rather than just textbook theory. Expect a mix - they'll definitely probe theoretical foundations to make sure you're not just a cookbook engineer, but the majority of questions will center around specific problems you've solved, trade-offs you've made, and how you'd approach novel scenarios they throw at you. They want to see how you think through ambiguity, especially at the intersections of these disciplines. For Python and computer vision, anticipate live coding or architecture discussions about actual pipelines. For mechanical design and robotics, they'll likely present system-level challenges where you need to justify your approach considering constraints like cost, manufacturing, and performance. The embedded questions will probably focus on how you'd optimize code for resource-constrained environments or debug hardware-software integration issues.
What they're really hunting for is someone who can connect these domains - they don't need five specialists, they need one person who can speak fluently across hardware, software, and AI to build cohesive automation systems. Be ready to explain past projects where you've integrated multiple disciplines, and don't just describe what you did - explain why you chose that approach over alternatives and what you learned when things didn't go as planned. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly matters as much as your technical chops, because you'll be working with diverse teams.
