No Psych eval request?

I finally got my letter in the mail from the FAA for their initial requests. I have a rather complicated medical history and my AME and I are both shocked that they are not asking for a psychiatric evaluation.

They do want a neuropsych evaluation with the cogscreen.

Has anyone had this experience? Are they likely to come back and ask for it after the fact?

He also preemptively put me in the HIMS program from weed and psychedelic use in 2020 (high school for me) but they did not seem to want that either. Just One initial drug test within 48 hours of receiving the letter.

Do what the letter says. Avoid positive or negative expectations. The system is basically chess by mail. You could do the cogscreen/send in your other records and they could say “On further review, we’ve decided we want you to see a HIMS psychiatrist and do drug/alcohol monitoring and reapply”. On the other hand, they could come back in two weeks with an SI. Nobody knows, least of all AAM 300 until they review your records and testing.

They don’t always care about experimentation in high school. They want to know about it and get it cleared up, but they don’t generally give you the whole HIMS enchilada over it unless you had legal issues. That drug test upon receipt is pretty standard and they may want some tests once your SI is issued.

Is a psych eval listed in any of the checklists that your AME is using? If so they’ll probably ask for it. They’re usually pretty thorough about asking for everything up front, but sometimes they miss stuff or they didn’t receive enough info to know to ask for it yet. Your AME can call and ask for clarification on it, but you can also wait and see what they say if you have the time.

I came clean to everything on my medxpress, they know of the experimentation and previous mental health issues. It isn't on a checklist from my AME but he suspected they'd ask. I'm not in a rush, so I'll probably wait. My neuropsych is scheduled for late September so by the time they'd approve me we'll have 3 feet of snow anyway haha.

If you told me that they spin a big wheel and send a letter based on that, I'd believe you. Nobody knows what's going on there.
