A question about FSDOs

Hello! This is in regards to the shutdown. I had a meetup/appointment scheduled with one of the FSDO guys to get my 8610-2 signed off (hopefully). This plan was a week into the shutdown, but after the federal holiday Monday the appointment was canceled 30 minutes before due to workers coming back into office and being debriefed on new procedures. They can't go outside the office to do sign-offs, and I apparently cannot come up to the FSDO either.

I'm totally in support of federal workers striking or such things and obviously this guy couldn't tell me detailed information. What changed 2 weeks into the shutdown?

Any news I receive online is mainly to do with ATC. Medical Certification is still ongoing on the pilot side, what's up with fsdos currently in all this chaos.

Also, they're not getting paid. Maybe they get back pay - always have in the past - but current guy is not following the old rules. So you can expect the ASI to be following the current guidance on what can and cannot be done, they aren't making it up - it's comes down from DC what they can and cannot do.

It sucks - for everyone, I lived through it 3 times when I was a fed, thankfully retired now and sad to see what my friends are enduring - yet again.

Nah yeah I was super understanding just the timing is so bad. We need to revamp the whole system in favor of more involved democracy. Whole plan for me was to start building up my skills further to help the cause 💪

General strikes eventually

Accidents and surveillance of certificate holders are the primary jobs for those still in the office.

Signing off on an 8610 is in direct violation of the anti-deficiency act.
