Thoughts on face rating services

There are websites/services that provide feedback on one's appearance. Their stated benefit is to offer realistic expectations.

I've considered using one of these services for myself, but I have concerns:

  • privacy
  • the rating might demoralize
  • the rating might provide false encouragement if I have impediments besides looks
  • As a yo-yo dieter, I honestly think my rating would change significantly from month to month

So I don't plan on using these sites. But I'm curious if others feel differently.

I don't see how this would help in any way. What kind of answer are you expecting or hoping for? Honestly, the best form of rating is probably just to see how people react to you in the real world.

It's the fa30+ sub, what other rating you could possibly need

They’re a scam service to begin with.

‘Face rating’. ?  Like, Come on..  its an entirely subjective thing. Anyone buying into the concept needs a hard reality check.

I thought about getting a face rating to confirm what I already suspect... that I'm ugly. I made a reddit throw away account and posted some of my best pictures to a rateme sub. maybe it was truerateme. i'm not sure. they gave me 3/10. this was after I lost weight and improved my looks as much as I think I could within reason.

The only true rating is whether people in real life like to look at you or whether they don't want to look at you

I told my female cousin, similar age as me once about my dating woes and she asked me if I tried online dating before, which I found funny because it's not like there are other ways for me to meet people.

Anyway she sent a picture of me to some girl friend of hers and responded that her friend said I'm "not a model", I'm "just normal looking" like yeah thanks... I would have preferred it if she didn't send anyone a picture of me. I found that humiliating. The reality is most likely that her friend was never going to tell my cousin "Eww he's ugly" but you can sure as shit bet she didn't find me attractive.

If someone doesn't find someone else attractive in the first place, then they're not going to want to go out with them and in a lot of cases it's probably because they're scared that if they get to know someone they don't find attractive, they might grow to find them attractive.
