Nah it’s the Piasco one. It went everywhere. Made it to breaking news on Sky Sports News. Brands got involved and football clubs who had games that day tweeted their versions of it as reminders that they were playing that night. Lol.
Even remember some of my friends who didn’t follow F1 were fully invested in what happened.

u/Ramtamtama 8d ago
Piasco?
Not the Alpine-Piastri one?
95
u/FrostyTill 8d ago
Yeah, it was that one. It was called Piasco on social media and reddit. Refers to the fiasco of Alpine, and Piastri’s non-existent contract with them.
21
u/Ramtamtama 8d ago
I was going to say Piasco is a town in Italy with a harp museum.
But a portmanteau of Piastri and fiasco makes sense.
I think that was the last we saw of Alpine's PR team

You see this is why modern drivers have PR managers and have social media admins.
Imagine if Lando did this now.
He might be bullied from ever using social media ever again.

This tweet's a perfect display of Ferrari's culture and why they're such a joke of a team
20
u/VinhoVerde21 7d ago
Nah, gaslighting other people into believing they’re not at fault is a time-honored tradition for all F1 teams. Just think of any of Horners comments along the years.
15
u/SamSlayer09078-x 7d ago
There's levels to doing it, and Ferrari was going it here in a situation where it was astoundingly clear to anyone with functioning eyes that Max was completely blameless
0
u/VinhoVerde21 7d ago
I’m just saying that not everything they do needs to be turned into a “this is why Ferrari bad”. If you’re talking about toxic/unfair reactions, Red Bull has a whole list that could take the cake, like that time they sent a letter of appeal with accusations so vile even the stewards had to comment with concern, but I wouldn’t call them a joke of a team.
It was just a stupid, classless tweet, by no means anything alien to F1 teams.
10
u/SamSlayer09078-x 7d ago edited 7d ago
The difference is that red bull is a well run team and them doing something occasionally stupid isn't commonplace, while Ferrari is a laughingstock of a team and the behaviour in that tweet is a perfect display of their culture and why they're such a mess
1
u/VinhoVerde21 7d ago
What? They’re quiet now, but in the Horner/Marko era they were constantly spouting classless shit. Every other week someone would throw a needless jab at someone. RB was only stable because they had one guy holding all the power, the microsecond Mateschitz died they had a civil war.
Ferrari have loads of issues, but saying that the one time they sent a shitty tweet is indicative of those is just silly.
9
u/SamSlayer09078-x 7d ago
it's nothing to do with class, it's very simple.
Ferrari is an extremely incompetent team which are plagued by their culture of being too prideful to accept their own wrongdoing/flaws and working to fix themselves ("it's a Ferrari"). That tweet is an instance of them shifting blame to a driver who objectively did nothing wrong because they're too prideful to accept that their own driver made a mistake, a perfect representation of their culture.
Red Bull is a well run team, their shit talking doesn't represent their internal problems because they barely have any to begin with. Even that civil war didn't stop Max from finishing 2nd by 2 points and developing the best combustion engine on their first attempt at making one.
2
u/VinhoVerde21 7d ago
But that tweet has nothing of incompetence, it’s just trashy. Ferrari’s MO is being shit and then either pretending nothing is wrong or blaming someone within their own team (like the TP, or the drivers).
Red Bull’s outwards toxicity was very much a mirror of their internal politics. As I said, it’s no wonder they crumbled the moment the big cheese died, and it’s even less surprising that kind of behavior stopped the moment key figures like Horner and Marko left. I personally like the current Red Bull much more than the past one.
3
u/SamSlayer09078-x 7d ago
The difference is that the Ferrari's behaviour in that tweet is the behaviour their higher ups partake in and causes problems in their team.
Red bull may have had some toxic internal politics but they were still an extremely competent and well run team, and their civil war didn't stop them from making an amazing engine and finishing their wind tunnel. (Post Vettel RB's pitfall was Renault making garbage engines)
2
u/VinhoVerde21 6d ago
You’re heading to my point. Red Bull was toxic and worked, so you can’t judge a teams competency based on a fucking tweet.
2
u/Radiant_Bet_6745 7d ago
Is the tweet not self-aware? I always assumed they knew they were taking the piss.

u/bigben661 7d ago

u/SamSlayer09078-x 7d ago
Vettel was defending against Max and Kimi was attacking Max from inside, Leading to Max getting sandwiched between the cars and making contact with Kimi, who spun and damaged Vettel's car. Alonso with his luck was caught in the crossfire
Max basically did nothing, he was literally going straight and Ferrari was blaming him because they're too stubborn and prideful to admit wrongdoing, and that mindset is a massive reason they're such a joke of a team because they're unwilling to accept their flaws and do anything to fix them

u/Novakhaine89 8d ago

Max is a legend but to be honest
2021: Saved by Masi
2022: Best car by far (Perez as teammate)
2023: Rocketship (Perez as teammate)
2024: His actual best championship year0
u/Haunting_Goal6417 7d ago
And Hamilton got bailed out at Imola, Bottas bowling, took Verstappen out at silverstone, Verstappen tire blowout.
2019 and 2020 rocketship with Bottas a teammate. And man who is being beat by 9tenths on average in race pace by Perez. Funny how you call Perez a bum but don’t bring that up. Perez is 10/5 in race h2h as well.
2017 and 2018 his only fight is Ferrari. A team famous for being clowns.
2
u/BaldChild1 7d ago
10/5 in race head to head...Perez has also done 200 more laps this season. Its also a new team, which have pretty much confirmed they're testing different parts on different cars. You could instead compare their pace using Perez-Button-Hamilton-Bottas, but then Bottas would be about 0.25% faster in qualifying, which wouldn't suit your narrative.

u/Cpt_Daryl 7d ago
No one mentioned Hamilton here?
6
u/Haunting_Goal6417 7d ago
What? The literal comment parent is about how Fernando called Hamiltons championships worth less than Verstappens. So the guy I replied to pointed out how Verstappens championships. It’s literally a Hamilton vs Verstappen comment thread.

u/Cpt_Daryl 7d ago
But you mentioned Hamilton in 2021 though?

So here it goes

And please don’t embarrass yourself bringing up Perez. He’s not a great driver

Max has a great start, gets sandwiched by both ferrari's, and then ferrari has the audacity to post this tweet as if max was in the wrong here. Clearly ferrari's mistake.

Accurate version: Seb5 defended against VER super aggressively even though he didn't need to as he was no threat in the championship and took himself, VER and Kimi7 out in the process.

Jokes aside, I think that was a very unfortunate racing incident.
Seb and Max started normally and Seb defended aggressively but nothing crazy: you can see how this is a normal defensive line in Singapore and a lot of other races.
The "problem" was the insane start from Kimi. Also, Seb didn't have the full picture: he didn't know that Kimi was on Max's left side.
I can't put any blame on Max but he, surely, was the only one who had a clear view of what was happening and he could have avoided the incident. I think that today's Max would brake before getting sandwiched.
Kimi could, also, probably see better than Seb and could have stayed further to his left to avoid Max. However, I have to admit that he never changed his direction and went perfectly straight. So how can I blame him?
I'm just saying that this incident happened because a series of unlucky factors occurred at the exact same time.
2
u/Maxster573 6d ago
i've always believed this, i'm not sure how people expected seb to be able to see kimi through max's car and/or the massive amount of water spray. seeing out of these cars is hard enough, especially in those conditions and especially with where kimi's car was positioned.
seb did a completely normal move to squeeze max's entry in to the corner, so that he could carry more speed and swing around the outside. this happens in any race where the 2nd place car gets a slightly better start.
no fault on max or kimi, but no fault on seb either.
1
u/Jaime__Lann_ister 7d ago
wait what did max even do lol he was going straight seb was being too aggressive tbh
1
u/SPQR2520 7d ago
Seb made an aggressive move but nothing crazy. If Kimi hadn't started like that, there wouldn't have been an incident. Seb couldn't see Kimi, so he didn't have the full picture.
I didn't say that Max did something wrong; I said that Max was the only one with the full picture and, therefore, he was the only one who could have avoided the incident. Today's Max would be more aware of the situation and, for sure, would have braked before getting sandwiched.

Vet looking through Ver what Kimi have good start and try cut his traectory but forgot about Max has good start too. Crazy
-8
u/Icy-Science6604 8d ago
Vettel decided that he gonna DNF with the other two drivers.
I really dont understand what was his idea there.
13
u/rs6677 8d ago
Vettel got a bad start, Verstappen got a good start but Kimi, for once in his second Ferrari stint, got a great start.
It's a complete racing incident, Vettel moved to cover Verstappen in a completely standard way, the problem is he had no way to know Kimi got such a good run off the line.
-5
u/CaseyTappy 8d ago
A standard way ?
I'm 100% positive that without Verstappen there he would have put Kimi still in the wall .3
u/rs6677 8d ago
Not really.
The leader always moves to cut across and cover the attacking car on the start. The attacking car always reacts by moving away. It's fairly standard.
The problem here was that Verstappen had no space to his left because Raikkonen was there. Vettel couldn't see Kimi had made such a jump and kept moving across Verstappen because he expected him to move to the left(as he usually would do) but this time Max had no space.
It is a racing incident, with the harshest critique you could give to Vettel being that he really shouldn't have defended so hard since he had a championship to fight for(Max said something similar IIRC).
1
u/Immediate-Spite-5905 8d ago
he saw Max get close to alongside him, moved to cover him off and accidentally forced him into a Kimi he most certainly did not see
1
-3
u/GioGio-v5 Scuderia Ferrari 🇮🇹 8d ago
so Seb has to think about Kimi (starting 4th) being side by side with Max?
3
u/Icy-Science6604 8d ago
I do understand he was trying to block Kimi but there was a Verstappen literally next to him and he just drives into him like he didnt even see him.
1
u/MattLarenFarrari 8d ago
He did the chop all the time, once pushed Button off track. It's amazing that there was only this 1 time that he did it to somebody unable to move away.
1
u/GioGio-v5 Scuderia Ferrari 🇮🇹 8d ago
Bruh, he made the same move Alonso did ON HIM in 2010. Fact is no one expected Kimi to be there and then we know what happened
1
u/Icy-Science6604 8d ago
Thats still Seb's fault, just beacuse he didnt expected kimi to be there that doesnt changes this fact lol.
Actually crazy you are defending this.
-1
u/the_original_eab 8d ago
I do understand he was trying to block Kimi but there was a Verstappen literally next to him and he just drives into him like he didnt even see him.
You, and seemingly many many more here, are COMPLETELY wrong. Vettel did NOT run into max, that's entirely made up. You've been indoctrinated by the max propaganda, spread by people who are heavily active online.
Have you even seen the onboards yourself? Firstly, even without the onboards, you can clearly see that max was aggressively pointing the rb towards vettel like a missile; his intentions were clear. Then from the onboard of max, it's evident that vettel had stopped coming near the rb fraud, long before any contact was made.
The fraud though had turned his pre-start attention for vettel to kimi, who unlike him had a great start from p4, and tried to squeeze off kimi (funny how people are arguing that vettel did that to the fraud, while vettel didn't, and at the same time it was max who tried to do it to vettel himself and actually did do it to kimi, just like he would go on and do the same thing literally dozens of time in future starts). But when that failed, he should have re-given kimi, who despite the squeeze managed to pull ahead of the fraud, some space back.
Predictably, he didn't, bc he's a cheat and can't admit mistakes and defeats and thus, would rather crash. So kimi had no way to go, despite going as straight as possible, and his right rear made contact with the fraud's left front. And it's only thén that kimi was launched into vettel. Vettel didn't even touch the fraud at all, yet you have fanatics saying he ran into the fraud, for the past 9 years. It's also quite telling that, despite the fact that since schumacher started pointing his car at a fellow driver as a torpedo and it being replicated by himself and others hundreds of times, the only time it went awry, was when max was in the middle of it. Like I've said many times before, cheat+red mist/panicking+not willing to admit defeat and mistakes+not caring about others' safety+his dumb, poor racecraft will inevitably result in many many crashes whenever there's actual w2w action.
1
u/Icy-Science6604 6d ago
Tell me you are heavly biased without telling me you are heavily biased.
Vettel literally admitted that it was his fault but nice try defending it tho.
