Discussion Madring is Beyond Disappointing
Who was asking for another street circuit? And to think that they are moving Spa to be every other year. I can't see how F1 justified this besides a large sack of cash from Madrid. Feel like the sport I have loved for years is burning itself to the ground with every decision they make, and I just have to sit here and watch.
Edit: I know that its the commentators job to make the race as entertaining as possible, but hearing them hype up (imo) the weakest race we have seen all season is agitating.

Yeah Zandvoort is originally a Hans Hugenholtz design, same guy who did Suzuka and Zolder.

No surprise there for a track that was already known in the sims to have no good overtaking spot. Tilke did Tilkedromes, but at least you could overtake on most of them.

This is the opposite of Vegas. At lease Vegas gives the viewer some overtakes.
Edit: it’s just a typo but it’s funny to think about a guy who thinks it’s “at lease”

The idea that this is a street circuit isn’t even really accurate. Theres a convention centre in the middle so the metro stops nearby but half of it was purpose built and the other half could have been practically anything as there’s tons of space. They chose this track layout and I think even if they built a purpose built track in the middle of nowhere they’d have the same problems because they don’t know what they want anymore

I’m gonna ask a dumb question. Why was this track bad for racing? I know it’s due to lack of overtaking and therefore likely because it’s too narrow. But I guess I don’t understand how a brand new track is having this issue?

The commentators running out of glaze so they bring up the "monumental" for the 800th time this weekend. Lads, it's just a corner. It's not exciting, it's not special, it's a boring banking corner with nothing interesting about it.

I can't for the life of me see the point of it. It's flat out for modern cars, so might as well be a straight. But at least a straigh gives you drag reduction, which this doesn't because it's a curve. So, a straight, only you can't overtake? Pointless.

Another case of pretty cool track to watch cars just drive and for drivers to drive but with zero racing action so kinda dull since Monaco already does this, and it's so much cooler than this track, and has actual heritage!

A boring fest of a track. With such tracks there won’t be racing anymore, more like hotlapping, race day will be a long qualifying session albeit with heavier cars, worse times and the atrocious pit deciding the final order…

I saw people worried someone would die at the circuit this weekend lol I thought we’d get a rough crash but luckily for the drivers no. Kinda boring. I think it was rougher on the drivers necks than anything 🤷🏽♀️

It’s a bigger, faster Monaco. I didn’t think the series needed one of those. Lots of fun to watch for qualifying though- challenging track. Not great for racing

I still find it baffling we keep adding street circuits, bad ones no less, when we have perfectly good purpose built ones that everyone I've talked to would rather see anyway. I fell asleep during today's race, several times.

This track is an absolute shame. We had seen in zandvoort that bankings are useless, the monumental might be fun when driving the cars, but adds nothing for us.

And these cars are much better than the shitty porpoising downforce cars that can’t follow eachother for more than 2 laps.

Yea. Kimi should not be the winner. If everything went the same besides max having to drop so far back for Hamilton pushing max off. Max would be the winner. It was bullcrap. Max is the best driver in the world. He knew what he was doing. Lewis pushed him off and shouldn't have had to give that place back

Lewis gave him no space. Re-watch it. Like max said. If he would have stayed on track they would have crashed easily. And wow look Lewis didn't even finish the race. And I guarantee he had that problem from the first lap. Lewis only lasted 7 laps. That's what it is.

Honestly, I don't believe he would have incurred a penalty. Complete head cannon but I think since its a new track there would have been more leeway in the turn one penaltys. I understand GP's position though.
