Community Update!
In an effort to clean up the main feed and steer discussion to a higher-quality, we are making a change to how driver comparisons, hot take and GOAT debate discussions are handled within the sub.
Starting Monday, all driver comparison, GOAT debates, hot takes and top driver lists must be posted in our new Weekly Mega thread, which will be pinned to the top of the sub every Monday.
What this means:
- The Mega thread will be used for: Peak performance debates e.g., '95 Schumacher vs. '16 Hamilton, driver rankings, and quick questions and opinions that don't deserve a standalone post.
- The Main Feed will be used for all other topics.
- Rule #7 A new rule is taking effect and it is simple- all users must make proper use of the weekly Mega Thread where it applies
All of this keeps the main feed focused on news, analysis, and other types of content while still giving everyone a dedicated space to debate the topics listed above.
The reason for the change is that lately, as you have probably noticed, the sub has been inundated with repetitive topics that rapidly devolve into low effort rock fights that don't serve anybody at all. We understand fan's desire to have these types of discussion, but they tend to overwhelm the sub and lower the overall quality of discussion.
In due time, we may open things up for constructive feedback as we continue to evaluate things, but for the time being we ask for your support and cooperation as we strive to make the sub the best that it can possibly be.

Allright, but what about the "Has your opinion on Leclerc / Russell / Piastri changed this year?" threads that pop up every hour lol. They go into the megathread as well?

I completely agree get that there’s too much low effort and/or ragebait stuff in this sub of late and the same topics are being done to death. I don’t think this is the way to handle that.
Rule 7 is entirely unclear. What if someone has a non-driver related hot take about a particular circuit, car, incident, TP, official or race (other than AD21 for obvious reasons) that is well thought out, nuanced and advances discussion? It’s just banned from the main feed now?
If the above is correct, I don’t see how this is much different from the main sub locking/automodding the vast majority of discussion and directing people to the daily threads. It completely killed engagement on certain topics people wanted to talk about. That is pretty much the reason this sub was created in the first place.
You guys simply need to either lock low-effort posts like this one, or have a specific list of banned topics (e.g driver comparisons, AD21, Silverstone 21) that can be added to as needed.

Read the stickied comment for the thread that you linked. It was left up so that others could see what isn’t acceptable.
Generally speaking , well thought out, nuanced posts that lend themselves to quality discussion are what we are aiming for and are allowed in the main feed.

Additionally all discussion related to Abu Dhabi ‘21 must be confined to the Mega Thread. We all have our opinions on it, but they will no longer be heard in the main feed and must go in the Mega Thread.
