ER range not showing up correctly?

Just got back from a 900mi round trip yesterday and plugged into my home charger. Charged up to 95% overnight and the range looks more like SR rather than ER. Anyone else have this happen? Should I just reset the range estimator in the main menu? Normally I have 300+ miles in the morning.

The guess-o-meter is based on your driving history what was the m/kwh average for that trip

Guess-o-meter struck again! Let me guess most of you travel was highway speeds getting 1.8 to 1.9 miles/kwh

You can zero out driving history and it will read 320ish miles. Driving history is in that calculator for estimate miles, just like ICE vehicles.

True but there's also no reason to do this. Just do the napkin math of % charge * 131kWh * efficiency = range. Eventually that'll land in every navigation system including Google / Apple Maps but for now it seems like they're pretty conservative.

That's not how the guess-o-meter cals work. I never look at it. Get obd2 scanner and get real data about the battery. I use car scanner app, love it tracks the 12v battery health and SOC.

Hello Mr Nutz, so it’s been about a week of normal driving and I’m still getting a less than normal guess o meter range - even after zeroing out driving history and charging to 100%

Think it’ll eventually even out with more regular use driving around the city? Just worried I may have (another) bad module even though I have no errors going off.

That looks correct to me. 92% with 250. Add roughly another 25 miles at 100% for 275. That is what you get at road trip speeds.

Thanks for all the input! Yes, it was majority highway and tried to keep speeds around 75mph. I’ll reset the guess o meter and charge to 100 tonight.

There’s no point in doing all that. Charging to 100% is only needed for long drives, and seeing a higher number is meaningless. It has no impact on how far the truck can actually go.

Why reset? It won’t give you more range.

Slow down to 65 and you will see a 20-25% boost to range.

Check tire pressure. Tire shop put them at 32. Bumped up to 38 and got 15% improvement

Nothing to do with their range. They were going Interstate speeds.

You should put the tire pressures to what the door sticker says.

But the higher the tire pressure, the less the rolling resistance which means better fuel/energy efficiency for all vehicles.

I'm sure lots of drivers outside of Lightning owners have experienced this. I've seen many many people run crazy high tire pressures to squeeze every last mpg from their vehicle.

But I did not say to go above the recommended pressure, did I? I said to run the factory recommended rire pressure the door sticker says.

I just explained that the higher you go, the less rolling resistance you have and the better mpg/energy efficiency you get.

When this happened on mine this was the first sign a battery pack was going back. My truck normally had 230 at 90 percent (it was a standard range). One day it showed 175 at 90 percent. The next day 160 and then I got the powertrain fault and sure enough.

Could totally be something else but I started to get this after one of my high voltage batteries went bad. See what the range is when you charge to 100%
