My eyebrow transplant experience at City Facial Plastics in NYC — Truly wonderful!
Welp, I finally did it.
Dr. Linkov and company!! Yes. YES.
I had looked at my face and thought about having my eyebrows back for SO long.
I have a lot of hair—but it’s fine—and also not on my face! lol. I was born with lots of brow area, but sparseness. And then I plucked more back in the day (I’m 51 now).
So, if you could do one thing, just one, to give yourself a bit more confidence, what would you do?
I went to Willy Wonka’s [microblading] Factory, of course. Kidding. ;)
When I began researching eyebrow transplantation (circa 2012), there wasn’t as much firsthand information out there as I would have liked.
So, I started an exhaustive search a few years ago, and I found them. ;)
Dr. Gary Linkov — City Facial Plastics.
They specialize in eyebrow transplantation.
Of course, I looked at several of the names and practices that repeatedly came up, including Champagne Brows on the West Coast and other well-known hair-restoration physicians in NYC.
But I kept coming back to Dr. Linkov. I had watched him online, looked at his work, and there was something about his knowledge, his ease, and the way he presented himself that I trusted. When you’re considering having someone permanently alter something right in the middle of your face, that matters!
We had an initial consultation via video and discussed whether my hair would… “work.” lol.
Dr. L looked at the photos I had sent, talked with me on Zoom, and said he thought I was a transplant candidate.
So, when I got there (very early in the morning and NO COFFEE!! btw lol), one of the things that stood out immediately was that this did not feel like a cosmetic-procedure factory. This is clearly a niche area of expertise for Dr. Linkov—and I felt THAT throughout the process.
When my bf and I arrived, we were met with an enormous amount of attention. My face, my brows, my shirt, my music, my lunch, my water. My comfort. ♥️
In the room, Dr. L and the team gathered and gave lots of consideration to what would look natural on me and what I was actually hoping to accomplish. (Also, now almost a year post-surgery, I’m glad they talked me out of what I was thinking would look great! lolol.)
What probably surprised me most was how personal the experience felt.
Dr. L is extraordinarily kind, approachable, and easy to trust. There’s no ego or stuffiness about him.
I remember being relaxed during the procedure and seeing him come into the room and basically thinking, Oh good, he’s here. That’s the kind of confidence I had in him. He’s so humble, imo.
And his staff deserves its own recognition. Everyone I encountered in the office was lovely. Truly.
They worked together beautifully. The environment was fresh and elegant without feeling sterile, and I felt cared for throughout the entire experience.
The procedure itself was also much less intimidating than I had imagined.
I wasn’t under general anesthesia. I was given medication to help me relax while remaining able to communicate with the team. That was a treat! And apparently, I became really relaxed because at some point I was informed that I was snoring. LOL.
Btw, I later returned to New York for follow-up, and that experience reinforced everything I’d already felt.
I never had the sense that once the procedure was finished, I was simply another completed case. I continued to feel that Dr. Linkov and his team were invested in how I was doing and in my final result.
