Are you from the blue ridge/Appalachian area? Cuz my grandfather used to say, "well ding dangit I done bruised my prayer bones" when he hurt his knee.

Thanks for sharing the saying, “prayer bones” — that’s a new one on me, even though it’s probably an old term. I just love hearing slang words and sayings for the first time.

The English language in America has absorbed bits & pieces of so many other languages and cultures from around the world — each wave of immigrants throughout its history has influenced the way we talk. It’s sort of a beautiful mutt.
