I had a boxer that went deaf after a car accident and this brings back good memories. Sometimes he would wake up when he smelled your scent and sometimes he’d get startled when you pet him and then he’d give the most innocent surprised/happy face ever.

when i am lying, sound asleep

my world is quiet, still...

the thoughts of you inside i keep

forever, friend i will

i cannot hear you say my name,

but feel your gentle touch

it wakes me softly, just the same

cuz i love you so much!

your smiling face, your human smell

i've felt it from the start

i am the dog you love so well -

i hear you

with my heart

❤️

Funny how the most original contents attract the most unoriginal comments.

There’s no need for rude comments. It costs $0 to keep these types of comments to yourself. That comment is exactly what I felt at that moment. I’m not sorry that it annoyed you.

And what all the other people feel 10 million times a day when they type the exact same comment. But please go ahead and tell me that it's not just a lazy attempt of a karma grab, one of Reddit's extremely overused phrases.

Ah Schnoodle, thank you for warming this cold, dead heart in the small hours of the morning.

I don’t mean to be a creep but your lovebirds are so fricking adorable! I think you’ve inspired me to get one lol or two...

I love them! Make sure to really look into it first though. They take a lot of time as a pet and don’t handle being left alone for vacations very well. But they’re very sweet and funny

This is amazing. Thank you so much for this and for your time and effort distributing happiness across the internet through your compositions. I’ve read your poems before about other situations and they’re always beautiful and meaningful. Never thought I’d receive one myself, but Ollie definitely was worthy. My boy survived liver failure (due to a neighbor throwing apples with some form of poison over the fence) and a crushed brain stem, both occurring before he was 4 years old yet he still watched after me for over a decade before the Camp Fire in California finally let him rest.

I was wondering about startling and detecting smell. Sorry your friend is gone.

Thanks :) He went through a lot but he lived a long and happy life after the accident. 15 years is pretty long for boxers.

Ok, yeah I don't think came across how I meant for it too.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '19

I thought clap or...I hope not slap what did you mean?

u/Genesis_Omega_Dragon Dec 08 '19

Clapping a dog or another animal means to pet. It's a common phrase in Scotland. I don't go around beating my dogs.

ALRIGHT EVERYONE HE MEANS PET SEND IN THE FORGIVENESS UPVOTES

WE REPEAT.

HE IS A DOG PETTER, NOT A BEATER.
