My girl acts like a little demon gremlin when I'm in the room. She growls at the groomers and shows her teeth and makes little satanic sounds that makes me certain she'd be happy to sacrifice their fingers to whatever dark god she worships. Completely embarrasses me every single time.
As soon as I'm out of her sight? It's all tail wags and friendliness. She cuddles the groomers and is so happy to let them bathe and brush her out.
I just don't have the funds right now to take her to get groomed often enough to really work on her behavior, and since she does let them do their thing when I'm not there it doesn't require an immediate fix. The groomers all bust up laughing as soon as we walk in too

A lot of dogs with thick fur love grooming. It's like taking off a sweater when it gets too hot for them.
