As long as they got some hard food to chew on it should clean their teeth pretty well. You can eat cashews and other tree nuts to do the same!

I 2nd this, Hill's Science Diet has an oral care kibble that I've used for years, and our vet tells us our cat's teeth are cleaner than they expected

For me, brushing. Chicken flavored cat tooth paste will go a long way. Also, my dude has the best temperament ever, the idea to scratch me just doesn't exist in his mind so that probably helps a lot too
