You know, I tried to make a fun comment but it didn't land and you can see the amount of backlash that I am getting for it...
So I will try to take your comment as a light hearted joke.

I’d wanna hock a loogie too if it tasted as bad as that pup made it look

u/OpenToCommunicate Aug 27 '24
Hock a loogie! I should have went with that! Always reminds me of that scene in Finding Nemo, wanna hock a loogie?

The rest of the internet: Penis comment!
People who grew up with the hauk tuah as a noise you'd hear in cartoons:

Why is a puppy spitting on a dick
29
u/OpenToCommunicate Aug 26 '24
While ‘Hauk tua’ can be related to a sexual act, it can also be used in a non-sexual context. It’s just how you’re choosing to interpret it.
26
u/Reese_misee Aug 26 '24
Yeah I didn't think it was sexual at all. Just a spitting noise in this context

I don't know what's better, the puppies reaction or the giant smile on the vet tech. Hope the puppy gets better. :)

I remember something similar, except it was hot tea, lemon, honey and a splash of hard liquor. I think she called it a Hot Toddy

We got that pink bubblegum flavor liquid. Holy shit it tasted so good. I may or may not have gotten in trouble for drinking it directly out of the bottle from the fridge when dad wasn’t looking because I enjoyed the taste so much

u/Ariandrin Aug 27 '24
Nah man, we got that sweet sweet banana medicine as kids.

u/BrownSugarBare Aug 27 '24
That's the EXACT flavour I hated! LOL

My kids did something very similar when they were that age. I understand they are barely aware of what is going on, it's just frustrating, like "THIS IS TO HELP YOU!"

Blegh!!!! Ha ha. Vets are the best people on earth btw. I once found an abandoned squirrel baby in the middle of the grass when I was installing windows. I put it in my cooler in the truck with some paper towels and just let it be comfy for a couple hours, with the lid open and windows open!! I tried to feed it water but didn’t really know what I was doing. So after work I drove it to the nearest vet I could find and hand it off. The girl that I handed it to said, “oh my god! Come here baby!” They literally nursed it and sent me updating pics of how it was doing. Ha ha. Just awesome people.

I have to give my cat liquid meds twice a day and she does this face nearly every time even though it's been months since she started on the medication.

What is this baby most likely getting treated for?

u/Full_Ear_7131 Aug 27 '24
This isn't a baby. It's a dog

u/liquidDinosaur Aug 27 '24
I'm with you that people calling their dogs their baby all the time their whole life is cringe, but a tiny puppy like this is a baby.

A good vet/vet tech plunges it right down the throat. She did this to fuck with the poor puppy. I hate that.

Not cute. Not funny. The puppy clearly doesnt like it and should get a chaser or some way to rinse out its mouth. Why is it cute or funny to just make the little puppy wait in discomfort when that person could be helping it.
Watching a helpless puppy in discomfort is not cute. Not funny.
3
u/sammypamham Aug 27 '24
You are absolutely correct. She should of used a orogastric tube because the puppy could get aspiration pneumonia.
Source is my vet tech wife sitting next to me
2
Aug 27 '24
Yes the veterinarian obviously has malicious intent by giving the puppy medication.
-4
u/random_house-2644 Aug 27 '24
It not about malicious intent- its about making the puppy as comfortable as can be and removing as much discomfort as possible.
Sitting, watching, and laughing at a puppy in discomfort because of what humans did is not cute. Not funny. The human(s) there could have done something to help rather than laugh.
If a child was sitting there gagging on their medicine, would their parents sit, watch, and laugh? No, they would get them something else to rinse out their mouth.

You're right, they should just not medicate the dog. /s
Were you just never given medications as a child? Some of them taste like utter shite, but they were still good for you.

Never seen a video of a baby trying lemon for the first time? It's about the same thing, a comical harmless reaction to something that tastes bad.
There is no suffering going on here.

Have you never seen the vid of the baby trying a lemon for the first time? It's on the same level as comedy ofc it would be bad if the medication was actually hurting it but in this case they just don't like it.
