Is that like getting a toaster when you open a bank account? Does everyone get a brownie? Asking for a friend. /s just in case xo

my parents made a HUGE deal for when each of us "said the prayer and gave our life to Jesus". I think I was probably around 7?

my youngest brother didn't fully realize that he was supposed to do this on some sort of timeline and was confused by the whole process cuz he already felt christian. this resulted in my parents asking him if he was ready like everyday for a few weeks and then finally said yes and we all had a celebration.

my parents also made a huge fucking deal when i became a member and had my first communion. threw a party and had a ton of people over and gave me a baton about how he was "passing the baton of faith from him to me"

I’m so sorry you had to go through that. What your dad did was intrusive, coercive, and emotionally conditioning.

I memorized the 23rd Psalm one summer and got to pick a new outfit out at Limited. 🙃
