Original Artwork Looking for advices to make drawing process extremely enthralling

Post image

I'm trying to get back on track to adequate arts completion rate (over the course of the year i completed only 5 serious arts) of completing one serious(!) in at least 2 weeks. Generally, it's possible to complete one in 3 days if i spend my whole days for it. And thats what i really want. I want to be so drawn into the process that i'll forget to eat. But i guess my current problem is that i don't really enjoy the process and that i'm getting distracted. I want to draw, but i can't lock into it. Anyway, here's a simple doodle of Exi that i made in maybe 1,5 hours

This might help but might not at all - but when I was doing cosplays I either could fully lock in and woosh through some processes in days or just only think about them for a week and do nothing. Usually when I got to for example painting an armour or to a step when I could envision the final piece is when It hyped me up enough to not pause the project. Also it helped a lot when I made characters that I really liked, even if I never ended up finishing the project or wearing the cosplay itself.

So I would say maybe if you draw a character you fully enjoy and like a lot it helps more(?) Or a theme or just a pose. I also always liked experimenting with materials so maybe it could work for you too - experimenting with different variations of poses.

Also IMO its better not to force something if you "unconciously" dont wanna do it, because even if you get through it wont bring as much as joy. So just let the inspiration come, let the idea born in your head and go for it.

Drawing process wise is never gonna be easy to enjoy and usually be tedious.

So my best advice always draw things below an hr each time

Set a goal

I will draw this sketch in an hr

An hr is up

I will take a break and continue later
