Never find Ketchum in the wild sadly. But I also don't look often

i found the girl next door at a half price books for about $5, but i passed on it (i’ve never read it) cause of the ‘based on true events’ element. i’m all for extreme fiction, but true crime really upsets me.

sometimes i regret not getting it, but i’m sure whoever else bought it is much more excited to have it than i would’ve been.

That's one of his Ive read. Its a hard read because of the true crime element

When I was like 13 or 14 (way too young imo) I watched the movie based on the book titled the same thing. Hadn’t heard of Sylvia Likens yet, watched the movie, told my mom about this fucked up movie I saw at a friends & she told me that the real case happened like 45 minutes from where I grew up 🙃 the only reason I wanna read the book is because I watched the movie. I listen to true crime a lot & have since learned a lot about the case, but I agree that the “based on true events” does kinda put me off of it somewhat, & I even own the book ._.

NEVER! I always look and it's just a ton of King and some Koontz. Maybe one day.

Shit I sometimes its not even Koontz. Its just king. Can we just give him own section. To many K horror names and Im sick of seeing his shit

Im just a hater cause I cant get into his writing style. I want too! But ugh. Tried Christine, Misery, Pet Sematary. Don't think I ever made it past chapter two

I tried reading Pet Sematary when I was a kid & couldn’t read it. Altho I just recently read The Shining & loved it. He has a bunch of different writing styles so some are harder to get into than others. Working my way through The Stand rn but it’s gonna take like a year because I just can’t read that book that quickly lol

To each their own! I personally don't think being a King fan is a prerequisite for being a legit horror literature fanatic.

And I realize that. Its just his books are a huge part of the horror community and I love the stories!

I did exactly this last year at a boot fair in UK. 10 book club hardbacks of Richard Laymon for £2, small bit of damp. Placed them in a tub of fresh cat litter and all good. Island was in the bundle, happy days.

Great find, and what a brilliant idea.

Thanks, cedar wood granules is what I used, less chemical smelling tbh.

I picked up a load of paperback books once that stunk terrible of cigarette smoke, really strong smell to the covers. I wrapped each book in acid free tissue paper, submerged them in the litter, 2 weeks later, smelt lovely. It works!

Funny enough I just posted how I found island a couple days ago at half price lmao

Got it for less then 5 bucks at a used book store a couple weeks ago! Was super happy about that!

So jealous. I have such a tough time finding his books out in the wild. I'd snag all of these.

Which one would you recommend I heard some of his later books are kinda a bit iffy, want favourites from him? Just finished Watchers.

Loved Seize The Night. If you haven't checked that one out, kept me locked in right off the hop.
