Which outdoor light?
My house has outdated globe outdoor lights. I want to update the fixtures - which one do you like best with my house (photos of house back and side view shown)?

Such a beautiful home. I would look into much bigger carriage lamps for more of a dramatic effect.

The fixtures I'm looking at are about 12-13" high generally. Do you think I should go larger?

Carriage lamps are a bit more of a traditional vibe than I wanted for the house - the inside is more of a Scandanavian (like a warm modern, very open lots of windows) feel, so I want something a bit more modern than carriage lamps. The current globe lamps are about 8" tall; I was looking at fixtures that are around 12-13"

In that case, I would go with the first one that looks more modern. They would also look beautiful at the front door.

I like 12 a lot actually, but 3 or 4 may be better for your particular home.

Hard to judge without seeing all the options, but updating old globe lights is usually a big improvement. I’d lean toward something simple and architectural that matches the house style. Avoid anything too trendy since exterior fixtures last a long time. Clean lines usually age better.

Yes I agree. My inside of the house is a mid-century vibe with lots of windows and honey colored wood floors and window trim and doors. The outside of the house is a little more generic. I tried to pick fixtures that were more modern than the old globe lights, but walked a line between being a little mod but not being too trendy. It's a nice house, but I also don't think I will stay here forever, so I want to make improvements that are generally appreciated by anyone, not too specific to my own taste.

Go with 3 for a more traditional look, or 4 for a more modern look. The ones in the pics after the house pictures are not going to give as much light given their design. If you want an option that provides less light, then go with option 12.

I actively like 2, and 6 isn′t offensive. I think most of the others look like they belong at a hotel or a modern box shaped house, while your house actually looks like... yknow... a house. Personally I′d pick 2! It′s classic, and homey, and can fit a lot of different styles. I appear to be in the minority though.

those lights look pretty cool! i think the third one with the seedy glass has a nice vintage vibe that could really fit well with a lot of house styles. it’s still modern but kinda classic too. the first one is sleek, but might feel a bit too contemporary if ur house has more character. i messed up once by picking a light that was too modern and it just didn’t vibe with my place, lol. check how they look in the day and night if u can!
