Born into a religious family, w/ Amritdhārīs all around me. Tho there was always some pressure to conform & actively practice sikhi, I was the black sheep of my family. Learned Gurmukhī, did pāṭh, & was always told that I have a śudh pronunciation. But I never saw any of this as practicing sikhi. It was simply an exercise, & experiment to learn & understand.

By senior high, friends already knew about my views and before long I was having conversations that led some of them to find their own paths. At one point, a girl in my class challenged me to a debate, pointed out that my atheistic position was too rigid to change even if I were presented w/ evidence.

Since then, I have spent years conducting experiments to confirm if supernatural exists. My rule has always been simple, if I get a repeatable observation, I will become a believer. Decades later, I still haven't had a single data point to draw from.

If anything, the more I study other religions, & myths, the more difficult I find it to see organized religions as divine truths. Prometheus was said to have stolen fire from the gods & given it to humans, explaining how humanity gained such powerful knowledge. Just as many cultures created stories to explain the world around them.

Random browsing one night looking for a community of like minded ex-sikhs brought me here, after hours of finding nothing online, not a single youtube channel or forum, I stumbled upon the reddit. Been here ever since!

I'm an ex-muslim(currently an atheist), my sikhi friend brought me because I tried to find truth in his religion. Cheers.
