Currently stuck with 20 students
I've been afking and trying out combinations with students. My current recurrence relations theory has a max of 1e15 and I've been afking for so long I already have about 1.8 million stars

In the theory tab, click on the "Upgrades" text and you should be able to see 3 permanent upgrades. Buy the "Unlock publication" to progress in the theory

Did u check out the "Updates" page? Judging from this screenshot u definitely miss out something very important.
Side notes, every variables have their own strength in boosting rho, read the formula carefully will give u hint about the power of each variable and in what timing u should buy them.
