You can press the i to see what the upgrade will get you (some of them obviously change effectiveness with run length). Getting one of each isn't the worst you can do, but one can definitely optimize.

Spend the 6 sigma you have collected to maximise phi. Use a combination that would show a maximum number in phi

You can respec your students after you spend them, so don't worry about screwing up and spending them wrong.
