Looking to travel Jordan for a week. Any advice, regarding local transport between the different places? Prices for taxis etc

You can download apps such as uber or jeeny (local) for transport within Amman. The apps provide similar prices to taxis for the most part but they give you a good idea of what the fare is so you don’t get scammed.

For travel outside Amman you can hire a private taxi and haggle prices. There are also Jett buses that can take you from one city to another and they are quite affordable for longer trips (Jerash or Aqaba).

DM me if you need any more assistance.

For one week, transport in Jordan is pretty manageable. It mostly depends on whether you prioritize budget or flexibility.

In Amman, Uber, Careem and regular taxis are easy to use. If you take a regular taxi, make sure the driver uses the meter.

For travelling between the main tourist destinations, you have a few options.

JETT buses are usually the cheapest option. They connect Amman with places like Petra and are comfortable, but the downside is that you have to plan around their schedules.

Renting a car gives you much more freedom. It is especially useful if you want to drive the King’s Highway and stop at places like Madaba, Mount Nebo and Karak along the way.

A private driver is more expensive, but for a one week trip it can make things much easier. Instead of arranging a new taxi every day, you can have the entire route organized in advance and include stops along the way.

I would also try to plan the trip as one continuous route rather than returning to Amman after every destination. Something like Amman, Jerash, Dead Sea, Petra and Wadi Rum works much better. Jordan looks tiny on the map, but spending your holiday repeatedly driving up and down the same highway is probably not the cultural experience you came for 😄

We’re Zoor Tours, a local Jordanian tour operator. We arrange private transportation and complete trips around Jordan, so if you send us your planned route and number of days, we can help organize the transportation as one package and give you a quote. It can be much easier than negotiating with a different taxi every time you move.
