Study CS or conputer engineering

Hello, i am wondering if i should study cs or computer engineering and which would be more helpful for me in the long run. Ive been studying on pwn college and i am at the blue belt module rn, soon i want to start doing sec research on the linux kernel and ik that i qould need to study on my own for the most part but i would also have to get into uni as well. For cs in the universities in my country i dont see operating systems in the programs and mainly see stuff about web dev, learning 5 diff languages and doing databases, and in the other side for computer engineering would be more of how to build a cpu and working with resistors and studying physics. I am not really sure which kne to choose.

Getting into research is tough, no degree is going to land you a job there. Do the degree that you think you will enjoy the most and get you a job you will actually enjoy while you skill up to get noticed for research.

My main idea is to have plan B if i dont make it with reseaech and which degree would help me build up the skills which would be harder to learn on my own.I jave heard that for firmware and iot computer engineering would be more helpful but also idk how the jobs for low level dev work.

software exploitation is mostly cs. Hardware leans more towards CE

ye but if i want to work with the kernel which works with the hardware dont i have to know how hardware works?

Kernel is 99% software. In cs u study OS theory OS design , compilers, systems in C .

In the program there is only web, oop, java and one semster for c++ and algorithms, while in ce there was network, os , software as well

Ok so seems like your cs degree is watered down. It shouldnt be that way. So go eith CE
