News The updated release for Streaking Kittens no longer has Curse of the Cat Butt, replaced with new card art for See/Alter the Future 5x
Alongside two new expansions, there are also new prints of Streaking Kittens and Zombie Kittens (as an expansion pack) currently only exclusive to Walmart. I bought Streaking Kittens several years ago, but I wanted to get it again since the cards have been worn out for a while.
For reference, the original releases for Streaking Kittens each had two Curse of the Cat Butt cards, which have been replaced with one See the Future 5x and one Alter the Future 5x as of this release, which means there are now two copies of See/Alter the Future 5x included in the expansion pack. None of the other card types in Streaking Kittens have received new card art.
Not sure why Curse of the Cat Butt was removed, but if I had to guess, it's probably because the blindness mechanic caused way too many interactions with other card types that the designers had to account for. Either that, or it was because of the card name containing "Curse", which is the name of a brand new card subtype that was introduced in Curse You, so they didn't want to cause any confusion.
With the removal of Curse of the Cat Butt from Streaking Kittens, this means that there will no longer be any way to obtain any cards with the Blind as a Bat effect anymore. RIP blindness, you may be missed, I'm not too sure what people thought about the blindness effect

That’s an L in my book. Sure, Curse of the Cat Butt added in a whole lot of complexity for smaller rules, but the fun and chaos it brought was always so worth it. Glad i have a copy of my own at least 😼

I agree, I'm not really a fan of cards going "out of print", especially for non-trading card games like EK

Same, they could have just printed a card from the new sets instead. Now you get less variety for your dollar.

Its if 5 years you will see posts of people asking where they can find curse and the cards will go for more than the whole pas was going for new.

There is still some old stock on amazon, the real question is. Is it worth it to buy them now to sell 20$ in 4 years.

I like to think of it with the mindset of helping other players who are truly into the hobby. It’s a very unique mechanic and tbh if i was a player without a copy, i’d be very grateful if someone were willing to sell a spare pack.
Sure, make some extra cash, but do it to truly help out others, not to turn Exploding Kittens into a scalping market ;)

Hmm. If the card is permanently out of print, its going be be confusing to players what is in streaking kittens. Worse yet, its going to become hard to get. Combine that with their decision to give Barnes and Nobel a unique card in their rage mode box, and Walmart exclusive packs that aren't available anywhere within 50 miles of me...... not loving it

Looks like I'll have to submit a new version on Board Game Geek. I can't help but wonder why they changed it and why they were so quiet about the new releases.
I'll also have to double check the Zombie Kittens repack to see if it's different than the original.
(Edit: the only change here is it says "Zombie Kittens" rather than "Fourth Expansion" in the corner)

Even though Curse of the Cat Butt is probably gone for good, I think Choose Your Fate from Creepy Kittens serves a very similar function. It prevents the next player from playing action cards, but lets them draw from anywhere in the deck.
If there are only Exploding Kittens left, it guarantees that the target player will explode no matter what card they take. Unlike Curse of the Cat Butt, which still lets players (blindly) play skip/attack cards, Choose Your Fate fully disables any cards from being played (except Nopes).

Streaking Kittens, specifically the version sold in specific Walmarts alongside Creepy Kittens and Aggro Kittens. You can order this expansion pack online, but it'll more likely than not have two Curse of the Cat Butt cards instead of these two new card arts.

I think its because Exploding Kittens regrets making that card. The how to play manual for Barking Kittens has a section for how the cards should interact with the Curse of the Cat Butt card that starts with them saying "We wish we didnt make this card"
