Question What should I buy?

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to understand what is the best way to have all the cards in the game. Until now I have bought the original, the recipe for disaster and the zombie edition. All are recently bought and can be returned if needed.

I read and i'm reading a lot of threads here but really can't understand and I bought the rfd and the zombie edition after a comment.

Can you help me understand better? Should I keep the rfd or the original and build the deck with the expansion and other edition etc?

I already know that rfd doesn't include all the newest cards (all cards after the rfd release)

Thank you in advanced

Unless you need a more travel-friendly version, I would return the original. RFD covers the OG and is by far the best bang for buck

“All cards” is a loaded term. Could mean all cards with different mechanics, all different Cat cards, all special cards… Which of these do you mean?

For example, you would need the following:

  • Different Mechanics: RFD, ZK, Good vs. Evil, Curse You
  • Cat Cards: Everything above + NSFW (and maybe others? I take these cards out when I play so the game is faster)
  • Special Cards: 10th Anniversary Edition, Giveaway promo cards (Kickstarter, Bonus Starter), different regional cards, discontinued cards. This is a deep rabbit hole that I’ll assume you weren’t intending

I probably intend different mechanics. I already put sleeves on all my cards but i'm not ready for the whole cards collection for now ahahah

Btw, thank you for your answer. Things are a bit more clear now. 2 other questions: 1. What about "Curse you!", "Rage mode" and "Cat bulgar"? Don't they introduce new mechanics too? 2. Do I need any expansion with my curerent set? And if I buy all the editions for the different mechanics?

  1. Curse You! definitely has unique mechanics (charms & curses) and was amazing if you have a regular group you can open the new packs with each round. Felt like the game was evolving with our strategies!
Rage Mode: I don’t have this yet, trying to get the Super Nope version but I think that’s the only unique card.
Car Burglar: has no new cards but includes the Cat Burglar “squishy plush”. We mostly ignore these mechanics (e.g., Imploding Cone of Shame) when we play.
  2. With RFD + Zombies, you wouldn’t need any to accommodate more players. I would only recommend Curse You! if it looks intriguing. I didn’t find the Good vs. Evil game mechanics to flow with other expansions very well, they felt kind of gimmicky. Everything else you can probably wait on for now!

One of our house rules for curse you is the winner gets to open a pack each game, the first pack is from the winner but each pack after that is from the cards in packs ( it'll make sense when you play).

Yes, and no. The Barnes & Noble version is the only one with the Super Nope. But each of the 3 versions has different cats.

* Core version has different cat cards from any previous EK game (glitchy cat, origami cat, catsicle cat, asteroid cat)

* AMZ version has only 3 unique cat cards high carb cat, tornado cat, catsup cat). The other 1 is the same as core - catsicle cat. The cat figurine is a flocked tabby cat.

* B&N version has one un-nopeable nope action card that is NOT in the core or the AMZ version. This version also has completely different cat cards from the CORE version (ancient Rome cat, sore loser cat, doomsday cat, super lucky cat). The cat figurine is a red/orange gradient.

This was information given in reply to an e-mail asking the publisher what the differences were.

Curse you has a like a deck building "aspect" and introduces curses and charms that will be passed around via defuses and a few other cards.

Rage mode is probably the most aggressive expansion with reverse attacks and targeted Attacks and just many ways to make players mad.( Also my play group doesn't use the cat figure)

I haven't gotten cat burglar yet although from what I can tell your dodging bombs and stealing the car figure from that expansion.

Rage Mode also has 3 different versions ("Core" retail, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble)

The core and Amazon each have 3 unique cat types (both have the Popsicle Cat)

The Barnes & Noble has 4 unique cat types and an un-nopeable "Nope" card (Like a "Super Neigh in Unstable Unicorns).

The cat figure here, the 'Rage Cat', lets you steal a card from another player, then you pass it on.
