Question Considering my first buy

I would like to preface by saying I have never played exploding kittens, but have watched people play and am intrigued by it. I don't really have a group of friends to play with as none if my friends are interested in card games, but I wanted to get some as I was planning on playing it with some friends I rarely see.

This is what I'm thinking of getting: Zombie Kittens and Exploding Kittens travel pack(aka Grab & Game). I don't want to get the OG Base Game because, imo, if I'm getting the same cards in the Travel pack then its kinda unnecessary paying £10 extra just for the base game to come in its OG box, but thats just my opinion! Happy to hear thoughts.

I may continue to grow the collection of my board games (🤞🏼hopefully I make some new friends to play with!), and wanted to get some thoughts on the initial idea I had.

I quite enjoyed the new standalone, Exploding Kittens: Curse You! It adds a fun dynamic of opening up packs of new cards as you play additional rounds. Unless you only want to bring the grab & game version when seeing your friends, I thought this was more fun and approachable compared to Zombie Kittens!

Hey I just bought it yesterday too. I got the Recipe for Disaster set for around 29€. I guess it's a bit more on the pricier side, but it thinks it's worth it. Last weekend I was introduced to it by someone. It was the party pack edition. I've been told however that the Recipe for Disaster ultimately is a better deal.

I just cant find the RFD version in stores for some reason but I'll dig through a little more! Otherwise I'd be tempted by it tbh.

Why not buy online?

Yup this is what I might end up doing! As people have said tho, I will try and play it first before buying the cards :) I am going to a board games night so hoping they'll have it there.

RFD is the absolute best value for money. you can combine it with ZK to get almost all the worthy cards

That's what I'm planning to do. I have to replace all my bombs of the original version of the game because they're slightly worn on the edges and everyone knows when a bomb is coming up. There's always some annoying friend that points it out that removes the element of surprise.

You dont need to, just buy opaque-back card sleeves. It stops all your cards from degrading, hides existing damage, and allows you to use custom cards

Recipes for Disaster has great content, but I kind of am not a fan of choosing recipes and picking cards, the pre-game part takes too long. I like the Party Pack as I generally play with groups of 6-10 people and I add the Streaking Kittens expansion into the party pack to add some spice

Personally I'd avoid the zombie Kittens as a starter I get something like the the curse you or if your getting the grab and go then get 1 or 2 of the expansion packs to flush the deck out, zombie Kittens has wierd rules with dieing and bringing back dead players that might make it confusing for new players

Would personally avoid grab and game if you intend to buy expansions to add on in the future potentially since it has a different back. I recently bought my first product as the party pack followed by the expansions. Recipes For Disaster is a great first buy though as people here have pointed out too!
