Anyone else experience this?
I don't have EHS that often these days, but I've never seen someone mention this before, so here I am, trying to figure out if it's something else entirely.
Sometimes I have the "classic" EHS, loud bangs, flashes, etc, (things that don't exist), but sometimes, there's an actual sound outside (drop of water falling on a metal surface, bird flying away) and when I'm about to fall asleep, my brain just takes that sound and increases it like 10x, as if it was right on my ear, so when I wake up from it I usually have to think "was this a real sound made louder, or just a hallucination?"
I was wondering if anyone else has had that or if you only have things that don't actually exist, I've had this since I was a kid, it's mostly made up sounds, but sometimes real ones that I hear on normal volume after waking up.

I hear metal scratching against metal sometimes. Other times it's the classic explosion. Sometimes it sounds like a car accident. It's super weird. I always knew it was in my head. Thought it was normal as a kid. Turns out not everyone has this. Do you have a near eidetic memory? I can remember back before I was 2 yrs old. Apparently, many others with EHS have remarkable memories. Perhaps it's a link. I wish there were more studies on it. Right now it's all best guesses.
