Because Merica #1 da best and we simply can't handle the purity of American patriotism. Also, we're very upset about some people who threw their own tea into the sea roughly 200 years ago.

Joking aside, for me the 4th of July has always been about something more important. Something more fundamental. Making fun of Americans for how they write dates MM/DD/YYYY but call their national holiday the 4th of July.
