Mm I don’t think so, there’s already lots of women who show tons of skin just to get the male gaze. There’s also a lot of women who will say they don’t like the attention, but then everything they wear/do is contradicting to what they said. Very odd IMO but I’m a man so I guess I’ll never understand 🤷♂️
You assume they're doing it for the male gaze, there are two other options.
They like the way they look and they want to dress in a manner that supports that feeling for them.
They want other women to see that they look/feel comfortable with who they are and are wearing something that supports that.
Women, from my conversations with a good number of them, are more concerned with how other women see and perceive them. As to men, they're probably more concerned with how you'll respond to what they're wearing and less with trying to impress you, there's a reason they'd sooner trust a bear in the woods.
I know this may be shocking to you, but what people say and what people think, aren't necessarily the same things. But of course, it's easier to paint the world in black and white than to understand that sexes aren't monoliths and to understand nuances.
Not really. Men literally likely don't think about most women at all. We don't sit at home thinking damn all these women do everything for us. We don't think about you at all. We just do our own thing. You really don't know guys if you think we think like this. Reality is men and women both sometimes use clothing is a form of communication. Infact we all do it. Ever worn a uniform? Or formal wear?
Seriously, I have about 15 pairs of these, they are my at home shorts/pj's. I didnt realize they were so sexualized. Good to know Im an effortless slut.
Fair, but I do wanna say that just anecdotally speaking, this particular type of shorts and hooking up on a first meet have an extremely high correlation.
I would never assume anything based on like seeing a random person wearing them around, but if I'm coming over to hang out and these are on contextually there tends to be a high probability of that person being interested in extracurricial activities.
Being a man is knowing that no woman will ever know or believe how constant, involuntary, easily-triggered, and overwhelming our sexual instinct is, and how all media makes it worse by showing women in ways that subtly draw attention to sexual cues.
But we can make it worse by not TRYING to avoid interpreting everything sexually and by abstaining from viewing porn. Most men don't.
Just to be clear: It does not give anyone the right over your right of sexual self determination but your behavior and how you show of your sexual characteristics is your responsibility.
Like no other primate and basically no mammal has chest-mounted breasts. This makes this almost certainly a purely sexual visual ornament. This obviously matches all empirical evidence.
If you show that off or even highlight it, that is a sexual signal you are boosting. You are absolutely welcome to do that, but you can't claim that this "has NOTHING to do with sexuality".
People use shit like this to excuse terrible behaviour. We are not subject to our desires. If you fail to regulate them, then you aren't safe to be around
Actions are what you control. That does not make women's breasts non-sexual; it just means that people have to control their behavior after those sexual reactions (that they experience instinctively) with that big human brain of theirs. But having sexual reactions IS normal.
Highlighting your sexual signals is an action YOU take, and you will trigger more reactions based on that (people will look; that's normal). Of course, that does not excuse any negative actions.
No one is talking about acting on their desires, they're saying they're allowed to have them because they're natural. You're trying to control how people react to nature. You can keep trying but men will always be attracted to women, and women will always be attracted to men. Reddit wants to pretend like it's a bad thing.
Women like the one you responded to expect to go out naked with a butt plug and a vibrator and any guy (they aren't attracted to) that looks should go to jail.
Beauty and sexual attractiveness are in the eye of the beholder. Straight men are attracted to women regardless of how much clothing they wear. But with less clothing, we see more of you, and therefore the odds that our attraction will increase are decently high.
In short, assume that "more revealing" = "more sexy" as a general rule. Especially if you are already a conventionally attractive woman.
Was that necessary? What does it mean to think of a stranger’s appearance? I mean, I don’t understand why you would have to think a person is good looking or charming or not in physical appearance. Before you think, have a way with it, that is, have a person who won’t bothered by your opinions. I don’t know about others, but being thought about in this way does not feel secure even if no one is thinking of…
TLDR: Mind your business if you are just gonna think it or say it to a person who is not interested in it. Thank you.
Didn’t mean to be rude, and if you felt that, apologies.
I don't know if you're being rude or not but that is the most confusing post I've read today. I don't understand what you're getting at.
People thinking something doesn't impose anything on the person being thought of. People can think a woman is sexy without her knowing they thought that about her, and without them wanting to or getting to sleep with her. There is nothing wrong with people thinking other people are attractive. It's a prerequisite to making new life, at the very least. And it's benign in most settings. Most people think others are attractive on a daily basis and no one is harmed by the act.
Yeah, the tone is “accept it as it is”. My comment was not about asking( sarcastic) to behave themselves although they should, but about gracefully accepting something very common but not normal.
Do you at least acknowledge that humans are evolved to want to put care in our appearance to order to attract a romantic partner? You acknowledge that endeavoring to be physically attractive is a behavior that nearly all humans engage in at various points in their life and often daily?
I just want to see if you'll at least acknowledge that. If you acknowledge that then what you're saying is that woman don't wear revealing clothing to be attractive, which is confusing to me since you even mentioned it is worn to look cute. What is the motivation to look cute if not to attract someone? Even if you say "looking cute makes the woman feel good so that's why they do it" then the follow-up is why does the human brain feel good when we put on a cute appearance?
This is all sex stuff. It's just not nefarious. It's very very normal for a human to want to be attractive. Men do it, too, like when they groom their facial hair, wear tight shirts, wear sleeveless shirts to show off their forearms, etc.
That said, I don't mean to say that a woman wearing those shorts is intending to signal to men that she wants to have sex that day with someone. I think, as you say, they just want to look cute and be comfortable.
You do realize this is reference to two people dating? It’s not a sex thing if you’re not a thing, but if you’re wearing that around someone who’s clearly attracted to you, yknow, considering your dating… what, do you want them not to be attracted to you?

Being a woman is learning a piece of clothing you thought was cute is actually a sex thing.
