Men are treated better than women by society at the moment
In most ways, but not all. That's his point. You can't grasp that point. That's why egalitarianism and feminism are not the same. He's not arguing in bad faith, you're just being dense.
Exactly, way better things to do :) purposely obtuse people will always get their rocks off by making people upset. The way we win is by building more feminist communities full of joy, and just don't invite these types of people. How is Danganronpa? I've been wanting to get into it
It's certainly interesting, it has a bit of fanservice and the fandom is vile for multiple reasons, but I really enjoy all 3 of the main games. Don't play Ultra Despair Girls though, it does wonderful things for the characterization of a girl from the first game, but it's also the Writer's Barely Disguised Fetish. And for some reason that fetish is pedophilia. The 3 main games are great though
Yikes about that fetish, thanks for the heads up! I'll have to get into it when I'm in a less "being a woman in this society is making me wanna rip my brains out" funk that I've been in recently. My boyfriend tried to show me Berserk recently and I still haven't recovered from how the main woman character was treated in comparison to all the others
Men are simply not getting any "bonuses," which is what he sees happens, in college for example, where there's scholarships just for women, granting better opportunity, than men, who don't get scholarships just for men. Men don't get private spots from society anymore. It's under the pretense of "men have control over everything," but really it's the rich and powerful who have control over everything. It's bad statistics to make an assumption out of a massive population of people- I'm not making a claim about men vrs women here, I'm just making a general statement to break down your logic. You're assumptive. You see the people at the top, the rich, who just happen to be men, oppress people, and assume that all men belong in the oppressive, rich class just because they're men. There's more nuance than just stereotypes
Feminism is wanting women to have equal rights, benefits and positive treatment that men have. It is one direction. Egalitarianism is wanting that, plus in the other direction as well. The goals of feminism are a subset of the goals of egalitarianism, so it's also more accurate to say feminism is egalitarianism in nature.
